Take two parts rock and roll attitude, one part punk swagger, add a splash of girl power anthems, then shake vigorously over a healthy dose of sex appeal and stage presence, and you will have a concoction that will quench the staunchest of rock n’ roll thirsts, and leave a habit you cant kick. The music of Katie Kerkhover is this potent combination; infectious, and addictive. Her blistering blend of modern rock and throwback salutes to childhood influences, have Katie poised to join the top ranks of the Rock n’ Roll community. Leaving her hometown of Rockwood, Illinois at the rebellious age of 17, Katie was drawn to the stage lights of Nashville, Tennessee. There she quickly garnered the attention of Music City’s biggest bands. She spent three solid years as a touring musician, playing sold out shows on the nations largest stages. Katie was no usual sideman. Much to the dismay of the artist on tour, she often found her self thrown into the center stage spotlight by a chanting mob of spellbound fans. It was obvious to everyone that Katie’s star glistened well after the stage lights went dark. Now at the youthful age of 23, with eyes wide open, Katie looks to establish her own presence and rabid fan base. With full throttle vocals, buzz saw guitar riffs, and trance inducing loops, Katie has carved out what she calls “her true sound”. “It’s really a blend of the music I’ve listened to over the years. It’s the ‘fist in the air’, anarchy of punk, the ‘f- you’ attitude of rock n’ roll, and the fun, ‘boy toy’, girl power of pop.” Call it what you want, this girl rocks. Youth, beauty, prodigious talent, raw emotion, and an unbridled ambition are the parts that make the whole, the proverbial “it”, the intangible force that embodies Katie Kerkhover.
