THE KATIE MORRIS PROJECT is singer/songwriter Katie Morris and songwriter/producer Padraic Coursey. Within a year from when they met through a mutual acquaintance , the two had formed The Katie Morris Project, recorded an album, and played over 30 shows in Los Angeles and surrounding areas including the Hard Rock Caf, the Viper Room, the Whisky, the Dragonfly, the Cat Club, the Joint, and the Gig.
Their first Los Angeles show at the legendary Viper Room received an impressive review from a respected music publication; the article stated "this talented songstress sings from her heart and the passion shines through in her material" and "Morris has the beauty and charisma of a superstar."
Morris was born in Los Angeles and raised in Orange County. She grew up listening to local southern California bands like No Doubt and Sublime. As she matured she began to favor rock acts like the Doors, Janes Addiction, and The Foo Fighters, but it was an artist by the name of Janis Joplin who inspired her to pick up the mic and start singing.
What is most appealing about The Katie Morris Project is the "message" within the music. In todays temperamental and sometimes jaded society, Morris impassioned vocals are a sharp contrast to the cookie-cutter pop acts that play constantly over radio airwaves. The music is as intriguing and unique as Morris herself. Her outlook on life and her music, is prominently displayed across her lower back in the form of a Kanji tattoo. It translates to: with determination and purpose, anything can be achieved.
