"Chanteuse Katja von Kassel, a gothic cross between Marlene Dietrich and Dita Von Teese"

'Electro Weimar Cabaret' is the easiest way to describe KATJA VON KASSEL. She sings in both German and English, often within the same song in a sultry Marlene Dietrich tone. With strong European influences like French accordions and 'Vienna' piano, it has hints of being a more dancier version of GRACE JONES 'I've Seen That Face Before'. The Wagnerian quality of Katja's 'Gotterdammerung' delivery when she lets go with her emotions and you have a very unique style of modern electro that possesses a classic quality that will last, electro revival or not!

Top 20 electronic acts in 2009: 'Goodbye Was Never Said' leads us back to the obscure soundscapes of fellow German Robert Gorl and his track 'Mit Dir'. 'Goodbye Was Never Said' is brilliantly produced with expert bleeps. Despite the pop hooks particularly with Katja's superbly executed 'oh oohs', this song really sounds like nothing you've heard before in a very long time. You can imagine it blasting out from UK radio stations across the land. Future Pop Hit - and your head will bop to it's beats. EY also urges you to check out 'Riding the horses' - it's a bit special *** REVIEWS ***

Katja von Kassel is a slice of perfect heaven, and Katja is the real deal. Her sound brings to mind the likes of Dagmar Krauser, echoes of torch song, and a voice which is truly beautiful. I would dearly love to see Katja become the voice of 2010. *** REVIEWS ***

I had such an amazing experience when I met a lady by the name of Katja von Kassel . If you can imagine a vision of Marlene Dietrich fused with sumptious electronica, then you might get close to the truth.

I suppose it's predictable that, as an old electropopster, I like the occasional bit of breathy female vocals with a central European accent. So I'm currently quite enjoying Katja von Kassel - a London-based German lady who, despite being a trained soprano, prefers a more relaxed vocal style for her 1930s-tinged electropop. Check out the song 'Dancing on Airwaves'. ('Treppenhaus' is the German-language version of the same tune.) With the right airplay, that could be a massive hit.

"I believe that true love never dies..."
The Diva returns breathing smoky promises whispered in a Weimar speakeasy. Glamour, danger and world-weary yearning intertwine in a sensual electro-drama. Opera and torch song conjure up forgotten tragedies.
Visions of Dietrich and Dali gaze through a glass darkly at demimonde dancers locked in a hypnotic disco daze.
On stage only the computer and the diva. Together, alone.
Welcome to my world.

Willkommen in meiner Welt.
Hope you're warm and well in chilly Germany, Katja? Here's wishing you a wonderful Christmas, with lots of gifts, food and plenty of mulled wine. Have a relaxing break and remember to put a cake out for Santa Claus, you never know what you'll get back! P xx
From the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin: "Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident."My your life be full of fortunate & sublime accidents..Kisses..Lady Cheval
