Katla was founded October 1999. The name comes from a dragon called Katla in Astrid Lindgren’s book "The lionheart brothers". There is also a volcano named Katla at Island. Katla plays forestmetall. To find out what that is you’ll have to listen to understand. But if you say it simply, we play hard finnish rock with versatile influences.
By accident we have written music about nature. So you could say that we are not city boys making city music. That is just an observation. Not a conscious choice. Nature is close to our souls and hearts. We do not write about society, rather about different feelings, diversity of life and the unlimited stupidity of man by using some new point of view.
Katlas first release was Tähdenlento-ep (released 2000). First studio album Mikään ei valmistu koskaan was released October 2003. After Katla had released several singles and ep titled Tuskin lokakuussa sataa came Katla’s second album Raatoharmonia (released March 2006).
Now 2008 Katla is reforming by replacing some members. Katla is coming back stronger than ever!
