Reading, writing, learning something new everyday, trivia, cooking (especially baking,) getting to know people beyond the every day bullshit level. Just getting into learning a little about wines. I love music; I've no patience or talent for playing an instrument, but I can somewhat carry a tune and have been known to karaoke.
Music
I'm one of those "everything" people. Tops would be CSN and Y, Kansas, Patty Griffin, Hem, Etta James, Dvorak's New World Symphony, Nickel Creek, Nickelback, Coldplay, Gomez, Eastmountainsouth, Pink, Sting, Counting Crows, Stevie Wonder, Dixie Chicks, Live, 10,000 Maniacs, Paul Simon, Rascal Flatts, REM, and Depeche Mode. Only things I despise: trance and rap.
Movies
Sense and Sensibility (Music is 'Ever the Same' by Robb Thomas.)
Moulin Rouge
Cinema Paradiso, Chasing Amy, Phenomenon,
When Harry Met Sally (the best date movie ever,)
Shall We Dance
Rear Window (the one with Jimmy Stewart, not with Superman,) ..object width="425" height="355">........
The Shawshank Redemption
You've Got Mail
various and sundry Jackie Chan movies.
Many more chick flicks, but I won't terrorize you with those.
Television
I don't watch much TV. I enjoyed the first season of Lost and House, still giggle at early seasons of Friends, loved ER in its heyday, and scheduled my college classes around reruns of St. Elsewhere. When I watch now it's mostly the Food network or the History Channel, and I do try to make time to catch Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe on Discovery. I love that man.
Books
I own a bookstore. If you have an hour or so to ask me about this, I'll be happy to give you the full list. My very favs: Diana Gabaldon, F. Paul Wilson, Jodi Picoult, John Sandford, Audrey Niffenegger, Laurell K. Hamilton, Madeleine L'Engle, L.M. Montgomery, and Janet Evanovich.
Heroes
People who can laugh every day, despite whatever demons they've battled, win or lose. People who are kind only to be kind.

Y'know that song by Meredith Brooks..."Bitch" I think it's called? Is there a woman anywhere in the world that doesn't identify with that song? "I'm a bitch, I'm a lover,I'm a child, I'm a mother,I'm a sinner, I'm a saint,
I do not feel ashamed. I'm your hell, I'm your dream, I'm nothing in between." Yep. That resonates. No wonder men don't understand us.
They need at least one more option in the relationship column on Myspace. I'm listed as single, but take that with a grain of salt. I'm separated and have a seven year old son who, depending on the day, makes me prouder than I've ever had reason to be before, or makes me wish society found duct-taped mouths on children acceptable.
If you've come looking for witty sayings or a page that shows how cool and jaded I am about life, you'll not find it here. I fully admit to stumbling through this time I have on this planet, fully admit to being confused and unsure and completely eaten up by wanting to find a better path. I fully admit to making mistakes, some of which are beyond my power to correct, no matter how much I wish I could. I'm also sure that laughter, friends, and a sense that your life--no matter how screwed up it may seem--is very likely very much like everyone else's and that you are not unique in your feeling of being alone, makes the journey easier. Like my Dad used to say, "Life sucks, but it's a damned sight better than the alternative."
Who I'd like to meet: Living: John Cusack, Condi Rice, Ellen DeGeneres, Diana Gabaldon, Tom Hanks, Sting, Jackie Chan, Jodie Foster, Alton Brown (had a chance to meet him about 2 years ago and decided I'd just be too silly and giggly to be endured), Madeleine L'Engle. By "meet" I don't mean some celebrity sighting, but actually having a chance to sit down and talk.
Dead: Well, the dead are kind of icky to meet, but if it were possible to have a conversation in a non-zombie kind of way, the tops on this list would be Albert Einstein. Smart guy, weird sense of humor.....sounds like someone I'd want to hang out with.
Thank you for the Birthday wishes!! ANd THANK YOU sssoooo much for the books!! WOW...they came yesterday, and I had SO much fun looking through all of them!! It was VERY thoughtful... *goes back to looking at them* hehehe
ok Kat...reading your blogs and thinking about how things are playing out for us both...thinking a lot this morning. I remembered something...
Do you remember...wow...probably 2 years ago or more...I had a dream about YOU being INSIDE the house that I grew up in? Do you remember that dream? It was significant, and I told you about it. I never dream about ANYone being in that house with me...and yet, there you were looking so peaceful and calm. Yeah...that dream...
Kat...so many things happening that are kinda tapping me on the shoulder, letting me know that I am on the right path...that this was the plan all along.
