Blurbs

About me:

hurricane katrina: ruin to rebirth is a national, traveling, multi-media museum exhibition in development that aims to educate the american public about the real story of what happened on the gulf coast, in louisiana and in new orleans, before, during and after hurricane katrina. the focus of this exhibition will be the stories of those who lived through katrina and the levee breaks, those who took refuge where they could in the city during the storm and after, those who evacuated, those who returned to their damaged beloved city, those who haven't come back - either by choice or necessity - those who moved to new orleans after the storm, those who have helped in the rebuilding effort, and those want to find a way to help. heroes all, these people and their determination, their dedication and their courage in standing up to often seemingly insurmountable odds, need a venue through which to tell their stories. hurricane katrina: ruin to rebirth, will be that venue. Community Building

Who I'd like to meet:

new orleanians, louisianians, and gulf coast residents both at home and in exile; the musicians, chefs, cooks, artists, photographers, business people, entrepreneurs and characters who make new orleans, and the whole region, the unique gem that it is; all who are interested in learning more about new orleans, louisiana and the gulf coast, past and present; anyone who wants to help this region, this amazing city, this american treasure, this crucial economic nexus, rebuild and emerge stronger than ever.

MY DAUGHTER MADE 4 ON AUG .23. 2005. I REMEMBER HER LYING ON THE BED AND ME WATCHIN' THIS AWFUL TRAGEDY UNFOLD. WHAT A SAD THING 2 ASSOCIATE HER NEW LIFE WITH THE TRAGEDIES AND DEATH OF SO MANY OTHERS OF OUR PEOPLE. WE NEED NOT FORGET THIS EVER.

...just dropping in to thank you for your site and your efforts....it is the 4 year anniversary and it will not be forgotten...thank you for help the light continue to shed on the many aspects - positive and negative derived from such an unbelievable battle with the forces of mother nature...the incredible fortitude of the community then and now would never break and many are forever bound. My property was saved. It is not rented it is occupied by a family that remains displaced. Tks. XO Maizie

it's going to take every single one of us continuing to make our voices heard, demanding our lawmakers pay attention and spreading the word to every person we know. i wish that by the 5 year anniversary of the storm, there won't be as much struggle and pain and hardship.

Hi, hope all is well with you...

Do you know if there are any "studies" being done on the adults and children that "survived" Katrina however, have been living under the day to day stress of this "survival?"
I recall a psycologist stating a few years back that "WE SURVIVORS" don't have "post" traumatic stress syndrome but "ongoing stress" and that they did not know what type of society we will end up with in the future with both of the aldults that live on and the children groing up in this situation. The psycologist said that there was nothing to compare it to.
Do you know of any studies?  I know how it has affected me and my familyand it IS ONGOING and still changing daily.

    The Roosevelt Returns
The legendary Roosevelt Hotel, a property of the Waldorf Astoria Collection™, will open its doors for the first time in nearly a half-century in July 2009. The historic property will boast New Orleans classics such as the Blue Room and the Sazarac Bar as well as new additions such as the Guerlain Spa and Chef John Besh’s restaurant Domenica. [more]

Ahhh, hello! How are you and what's shakin'? Good to see you're up to your elbows in the creative process. I'm curious to take a look at what you've got going here! Saw a good special on Katrina a week or so ago on TV, amazing how the destruction keeps going....

Thank you for the add & friendship!  Your site is amazing and I completely
support all you do for Louisiana.  Being so close to New Orleans and loving the
city as my whole family does, it touches my heart that so many want the truth
to be told.  It needs to be!
    Peace - Brad

Thanks for the add!  I think its wonderful what you're doing.  I do wonder though if you're giving the true account of what happened because I was reading a lot of underground news about the federal government purposely sabotaging communication lines.  In essence establishing a FEMA martial law takeover.. disrespecting the local authorities, purposesly allowing choas to break out in order to use the state as a martial law "training exercise".  Hope this comment isn't offensive and I don't blame you if you can't comment me back.
