"THE SCANDINAVIAN MELANCHOLY RUNS THROUGH THE WOODS LIKE A TRICKLING STREAM CLEAR AS SPRINGTIME, AND RESEMBLES A FRENCH BLACK AND WHITE MOVIE FROM THE 1960's. THE MATERIAL FROM COPENHAGEN-BASED ARTIST, KATRINE OTTOSEN, IS ORGANIC, HIGHLY AESTHETIC AND SOMEHOW UNIVERSAL.
AS A FEMALE VOCALIST OTTOSEN STRONGLY PUTS HERSELF APART FROM THE DANISH CROWD, SINGING WITH A NATURAL TIMBER, NOT TO MENTION A DELICATE FEELING FOR RESTRAINING HER OWN SENSUALITY WITH A SUBTLETY THAT MAKES THE ALMOST NAKED SONGS STAND TRANSPARENT."

CALLmeKAT
my own stuff is released under the name CALLmeKAT.
in june 2008 my ep 'i'm in a polaroid - where are you?' was released. i played, recorded and produced it. the mixing and mastering was done by icelandic Valgeir Sigurdsson.
then in november 2008 the CALLmeKAT album 'fall down' was released. it was recorded and produced with Daniel Fridell. Valgeir Sigurdsson did the mastering.
you can find it on itunes and other online places. if you're in Denmark you can find it in record shops too. if you're not dropping by the cold north any of these days and you want a physical copy, you can do one of two things: show up at one of my shows and buy it, or order it at www.cd-skiven.dk

THE DANISH PRESS ABOUT 'FALL DOWN':
(translated)
dr.dk: **** (4/6)
"Take Fiona Apple's attitude, Stina Nordenstam's fragility and some of the semi-electronic melancholy that defines CocoRosie, then add Katrine Ottosen's own addictive magic spice – and you'll have CALLmeKAT…"
Gaffa: **** (4/6)
"The sound moves convincingly between scratchy and refined, with Ottosen's expressive vocals as achor"
Soundvenue: **** (4/6)
"CALLmeKATs vocal steals the show from ‘Fall Down’s’ first crackling breath till its last.”
Politiken: **** (4/6)
”An album, where the many interchangeable details, make it a constant charming experience.”
Berlingske Tidende: **** (4/6)
"...Fall Down definitely is among the danish debut albums of the year".
Citadel: **** (4/6)
”Affectionate feline charm, do-it-yourself enthusiasm and a large richness of ideas in the arrangements. Wonderful, how times have changed.”
Alt for damerne: ***** (5/6)
" A whole new special star has been born with Kat – or Katrine Ottosen, who sound like both a purring, mysterious and playful specimen of the race on the debut album 'Fall Down'… Sure we'll be hearing a lot more of her"
KBH: ***** (5/6)
"The atmosphere is full of mystery and intensity - and it is alluring. (...) Top it up with daring tracks such as the cover versions of 'Toxic' and 'Lovecats' and a debut album just doesn't get much better than this"
the past couple of years i contributed to these releases:
"Perfect As Cats - A Tribute To The Cure" (Manimal Vinyl, US)
on this one you can find my version of 'the lovecats'. i did an alternative version of this for my own album 'fall down' too.
"Two for the Road" , Marc Collin feat. Katrine Ottosen & Valente Bertelli, (The Perfect Kiss, France)
Marc Collin's "Hollywood Mon Amour" (The Perfect Kiss, France).
i do the cover version of the 'rocky' song 'eye of the tiger'
...a couple of summers ago i also hummed on the Marc Collin cover version of 'can't get you out of my head' in the H&M tv commercial, where Kylie was showing her beauty in their swimwear!

Hi Kat! Guess who I got to know a couple of days ago? Helgi Jonsson. Before his gig with Tina Dico we sat together for a wine in an Italian restaurant talking about artists we like. And we talked about you and he told me that he knows you. Nice surprise. He..s great - an Icelandic guys speaking German with an Austrian accent writing wonderful songs and being a great musical partner for Tina. So I hope everything..s fine with you and your little sister git her little keyboard back. Love from Frankfurt. D. xxx
Hi Kat, mostly offline at the moment, I now take to chance to say hello und thanx for the concert in Frankfurt. No risk, no fun, no reputation... I..m glad I dared to write a whole page on you in Journal Frankfurt even so I have never seen you live before, but loved the cds. SO it was really amazing to see how it worked out on stage, just the little keyboards, your voice, the projections and stories - very very charming, emotional and - like the girls, Dea & Co. said - sweet. Find a snapshot from the evening under www.pflasterstrand.net. Looking forward seeing you again, solo or with band. A big hug from Frankfurt. Detlef
