Singing 1940s songs on a green ukulele to my English Grandma who is now 94 years old, listening to her recall life events from the 1920s,30s and 40s - with specific interest in WW2. Visiting the Spitfire exhibition and the Lockheed 10A Electra, serial no 1037 Aircraft made in 1935 - [as flown by Ameila Earhart on her last ever 1937 flight attempt to circumnavigate around the globe] at The Science Museum in South Kensington. Poland - Ja kocham Polska i bigos i pierogi and watching Fred and Ginger films - everytime i see them dance to 'Cheek to Cheek' I cry!
Sounds Like
A smokey bar in 1940s London - love, laughter, sirons an' all with a sing-a-long 'round the ol' Joanna. Historical reference is key to the sound however allow a couple of spoons of 21st Century technology to soften the ears......

The Times
‘Resonant, if slightly mad, debut by alt - folk star in waiting’
Q ****
‘Second album from English dance-folk prodigy. ’
Uncut ***
‘The DIY ethos of punk is back. Singer-songwriter Katy Carr shun’s the major labels to make music on her own terms . ’
The Friday Review - Feature on Katy Carr in The Independent
‘Katy Carr heralds the arrival of a fresh and unique talent. An eccentric and eclectic writer of sensual and sexy self -penned folk songs, delivered with verve and humour… definitely someone to watch out for...’ Dotmusic
‘At a time when the talentless rule the airwaves, it’s refreshing to hear someone who can actually cut it. ’

2008 also marked the year Peopletree Records [the folk division of the legendary Acid Jazz Records] release an eagerly awaited compilation called 'The Crow Club' which is a much loved Folk club that Katy runs alongside Jan Zarebski at The Strongroom Bar in Shoreditch, East London. Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Ok, now that I've actually got to listen - wow great! Love the image, the vibe, the songs - so cool, quirky but cool! Will definitely be popping in again! Cheers, Wayne
It's amazing what men can make, it's a great pity they end up using such magnificant machines to fight each other with. I'd love to sit in one - I have sat in a Sea Venom (the Navy version of the Vampire!). That was a revelation - the nose was too high to see over when it wasn't in flight! I guess the Spitfire was just the same. Of course, the bulk of the English WW2 fighter command were Hurricanes rather than Spitfires I think. My old mate Stan next door used to be an air mechanic and maintained and repaired Ansons that he had to sit in to test fly them over Loch Ness!!! lol
Bonjour Katy Thanks for the friendly add So interesting musical universe with so good sound and vocal Best wishes from France (Follow me on twitter.com/pascal95 ) Pascal
