Katy Lied is an all new band whose debut album "Late Arrival" is released on 1st September 2008!
With a sound that carries a blast of Southern California in 1970 filtered through Northern England in 2007, the core of KatyLied is the alliance between guitarist/songwriter Duncan Hamilton and vocalist/guitarist Dan Britton. Since the two met in a guitar shop two years ago the seed has been growing, and the styles and sound they've been shaping are now ready for the world to hear.
Driven by chiming guitars and classic cut-to-the-chase song writing values, the KatyLied debut brims with hooks and musical muscle. Dan's earnest, from-the-heart delivery (often compared in his acclaimed solo career to Mike Scott or an English Tom Petty) is the perfect complement to Duncan's tight, melodic songs. The album opens with the full-on roots rocking title track and takes a few stylistic detours - the feelgood anthemic thrust of "Coming Soon" and "Every Time You Call My Name", the darker, almost funky "Crash And Burn" which points a loaded lyrical gun at sexed-up political opportunists - and finishes with the pared down, exquisite country gem "Waltz For Beginners".
Al Perkins, three time Grammy winning pedal steel player who played on the classic Gram Parsons records of the 1970s, makes a guest appearance on the album, as do Cindy Bullens (ex Elton John band and acclaimed solo artiste) and Beeb Birtles of the Little River Band.
Famed UK drummer Paul Burgess (Joan Armatrading, 10cc, Icicle Works) plays on the album and will be touring with the band.
Nigel Stonier, the multi-instrumentalist and collaborator to Thea Gilmore, Fairport Convention Sandi Thom and a host of others, produced the album.
Katy Lied deliver grown-up songs for people who are still growing.
