Bio
Kaustik is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles and Orange County CA. Formed in 2001, the group was founded by guitarist Ryan Burrows and Bass/Vocalist Robert Madrigal. Although the band has experienced several line-up changes, for most of its recent recording career Kaustik has been composed of Ryan, Robert, lead-guitarist Elan Mlagenovich and drummer Victor Alegria. A previous release of the first self titled Kaustik album in 2006 included former members Justin Campos (lead-guitar), Ray Kilmon (drums) and Xavier Vasquez (vocals). (2001-2005) Kaustik was originally called "Relic" but was later changed to "Kaustik" after discovering that name has been taken. Founded in 2001, when guitarist Ryan Burrows met Robert Madrigal and decided to make a band. The two recruited guitarist Bryan Starek and drummer Leigh Valasco but that didn't last more than two shows when Bryan left the band and was replaced by Xavier Vasquez to play guitar, soon to follow was Leigh and was finally after an attempt to work with a few other drummer was eventually replaced by drummer Rory Reynolds and the first Kaustik was born. Soon the band had their first real taste of the music scene/ business while playing shows in LA and OC and recording many demo songs at "The Compound" in East Los Angeles with Andrew Jaimez and still at the time included versions of "Possessed", the first song ever written by Ryan and Robert. A decision was made one day in 2005 to bring into the band Ray and long time friend Justin, moving Xavier to vocals. (2006-2007) Kaustik in it's previous line-up released in 2006 a self-titled album and began playing shows all over Southern California including venues such as The Whisky a go go, The Key Club, Club Vodka, Hogue Barmichales, The Alley, House of Blues and many more sharing the stage with STEMM, Bleed the Sky, Norma Jean, Jefferson Airplane and Asecino. The band also attracted the attention of Schecter Guitar Research after being introduced to the company by actor Andrew Brynarski and received the first rookie guitar endorsement. Though the band does have to this day some controversy with the House of Blues in Anaheim CA, and Orlando FL, two cities where the venue is located at Disney theme park property. At a show in 2007 while Kaustik was performing their final song of the set that night a brawl broke out in the mosh pit area and was followed up by a second brawl after the show outside the venue where security and police were quickly on the scene. Since this incident Kaustik has not been welcome to play these two venues due to, " the unruly crowds the band brings to shows". The old line-up but not including Xavier and Robert back on vocals, capped off their last of many shows by opening for Twisted Sister in December 2007 for the "Twisted Christmas" show at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. After that show everything changed, remaining members Justin and Ray decided to leave the band in pursuit of their own life away from the group leaving Ryan and Robert to recruit Elan and Vic to join after they had disbanded with their previous bands, "MMVF" (Elan) and "Tolerance of Pain" (Vic). (2008-Current) Since the change, this new re-born Kaustik has played 200+ shows around the South-West region of the United States. Recorded at the RecRoom in Anaheim, CA by Scott Flammer, Kaustik will be releasing in February 2011 it's first full length album with this line up to follow up the demo CD including songs, "Sanction in the Shadows", "Crystal Coves" and "Demon Eyes", released in 2008 which have been re-recorded and will be released on the new album. Within the 200+ shows Kaustik has played with such bands as Death by Stereo, Revolution Mother, Gojira, HELLYEAH, All That Remains, The Damned Things, Buckcherry, DI, and toured with Internal Corrosion. -

Formed by Ryan and Robert straight out of high school with like any band has had the trouble of members who are flakes. Through the uphill battle we obtained Elan and Vic in late 2008 and since have played a countless number of shows bringing real metal music to everyone. It's about enjoying life, getting off your ass and into the club, grab a beer and jump into the pit not a battle of breakdowns and "hard-core". Original music for the new generation of metal heads.
