Kawaihae is a genuine Island Music band formed in the summer of 2000 in Japan, led by FM Yokohama DJ, Vance K. The group consist of Oahu boys Jeff Ferrer (lead vocals & ukulele) and Scott Agena (bass & back vocals), Hilo native Vance K (lead uke & back vocals), and Yokohama local Shigeru Jimbo (guitar and back vocals).
The band was named after "Kawaihae" on the Big Island and this name received blessings from the late legendary longboarder "Tiger Espere".
Their debut album titled "Kawaihae" is fun, romantic and inspiring. All songs were recorded in Tokyo and mixed in Hawaii by award winning producers; Kenneth Makuakane, Gaylord Holomalia, Tim Nelson and Steve Kramer. This is the album that helped Kawaihae earn Hawaii Music Award's "Group Of The Year" honor in 2003.
In 2004, after four solid and memorable years in Japan, two of the members of Kawaihae (Jeff & Scott) moved away. However, the band hasn't missed a beat. Thanks to incredible fan support, Kawaihae is still going strong, touring Japan once a year, occasionally playing in Hawaii, and recording as well. Mahalo plenty for your support.
