KAYE . . . Kaye Elizabeth Phillips . . . crosses two worlds and more with her music, her art, and her . . . well, pretty much everything... Born in Taipei, Kaye is the daughter of two cultures . . . and more . . . her mother hails from Hong Kong while her father is from the US. Kaye was born on International Children's Day in 1994 . . her years are few but her music is inspired by a timeless energy that goes well beyond her days... Kaye was born into music. She had music playing in her infancy, watched classic Gene Kelley and Danny Kaye musicals as a toddler, began studying piano in kindergarten and began creating her own compositions in junior high school... ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... .......... Kaye's original compositions are classical in feel but contemporary in sensibilities. Her inspiration is fantasy literature, anime, manga, and life, the universe, and everything... Of course, she also enjoys playing pieces by other composers . . . she began scouring the internet and elsewhere for scores to play with at an early age, sometimes taking on pieces those twice her age would balk at... ....Impromptu Op. 90 No. 2.. by Schubert.... .... .. .. .. .. ...... ....Marriage D'Amour.. by Richard Clayderman.... .... .. .. .. ...... While Kaye's parents have always encouraged her in her music and art, they have never had the need nor inclination to "force" her to practice as some parents do . . . quite the opposite . . . Kaye's father is fond of telling others, "When Kaye is happy she plays piano, when Kaye is sad she plays piano, when Kaye is angry she plays piano, when Kaye is joyful she plays piano, when Kaye has school homework to do she plays piano.".. All of the music on these pages are original compositions by Kaye Elizabeth Phillips . . . enjoy . . . most were recorded in a makeshift home studio of a piano and a microphone hooked into a computer. In some places, the recordings may be edgy but the music is all from the heart . . . shared with you... -
