" Music in general is my influence. Even if the genre or track isn't really my thing, there is always something to gain from all types of music. If you're passionate about something you want to know all there is to know about it . I'm the same with music and, as a result, I'm constantly learning and broadening my horizon's, becoming a better musician and artist."
At just 22 years of age, Kayla is certainly a young lady who is ahead of her time. The beautiful, confident singer songwriter from South East London is not only an outstanding
talent but also an experienced live performer who has been performing since the tender age of 9 years old. London born Kayla, homed her musical skills at the now infamous
BRIT School, and wasted no time in pursuing her desire to succeed in the music industry.
In 2000 Kayla joined UK Garage collective C4 Family and it was here Kayla’s incredible vocal talent was recognised by numerous industry insiders including Chris Nathaniel
(NVA Entertainment Group), who later managed the group . Kayla put her silky smooth vocals on the track “Street Dreams” that managed to fend off 2000 odd competitors and
C4 Family reached the final of the Pepsi Urban Sounds contest. For Kayla, the experience with C4 led to the UK wide recognition of her amazing talent as a singer and
songwriter. Kayla has since performed live at the Jazz Café where she received an incredibly welcoming reception from the audience and, as a result, was invited back for a
second performance. She has also performed at Oh Bar, Camden and SheBu among various other venue’s all over London and in the Counties. She perfected her song writing
skills further by collaborations with veteran UK artist such as Mitchell Brothers (The streets/Warner Brothers) and Kelly Le Roc. Kayla has since built a cult online fan base of
well over 120,000 and counting.
Kayla is currently working on her debut solo album with Sound Maestro Producer/Engineer, Eeema [Nelly Furtado, Grammy Award Winner PJ Mortan, Ava Leigh, Mitchell
Brothers etc] under TBM productions. Kayla plans to tour across the UK in summer 2009.
