Following the success of her debut Fringe performances in 2008, Kayla returns to the 2009 Festival with her critically acclaimed 'one woman band' stage show. Kayla's 45 minute show incorporates a vast array of instruments and technology, including (from left to right) hammered dulcimer, flute, guitar, looping pedal, electric violin, keyboard, vocoder and laptop. THe music is an eclectic fusion of pop/rock/electronica, contrasted with soulful heartfelt ballads and lashings of vocal harmonies.
The Festival will also see the launch of Kayla's debut album "Stranger than Fiction", featuring most of the songs from the live show. The twelve track disc will be available at all performances or digitally on www.kaylakavanagh.com.
Kayla will be performing at the popular venue of The Space @ Jury's Inn for six nights in Week 2 of the Fringe: Monday 17th - Saturday 22nd August at 8:30pm.

Kayla Kavanagh is a solo artist with a twist. The Irish multi-instrumentalist performs across a variety of genres, as a guitar-based Singer/Songwriter, classical pianist, Pop/Rock artist and Composer. The music graduate qualified with an MA in Digital Performance, where she began experimenting with live looping using an array of traditional instruments, wires and electronics, taking the audience on a journey from acoustic to electronica.
The music graduate qualified with an MA in Digital Performance, and is now recording her debut album Stranger than Fiction with Engineer/Producer Nigel Pease, fusing her traditional roots with live music technology. Renowned for her outdoor gigs from her VW Kampervan, Kayla's unique musical abilities allow her to become a 'one woman band'.
Equally at home on simple acoustic guitar or with a stage full of technology, Kayla's unique musical abilities allow her to become a 'one woman band' both on stage and at her outdoor Kampervan gigs. Kayla's list of instruments and technology includes: Roland FP7 keyboard, electric violin, guitar, hammered dulcimer, flute, Apple PowerBook, Ableton Live, Akai E2 Headrush, Boss RC-50 Looping Station and Digitech MV-5 Midi Vocalist. Between May - September 2008, Kayla performed a national tour at Festivals and events across the UK, including 23 performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
With her own PA system and instruments, Kayla is available as a contemporary/classical singer, pianist, guitarist or hammered dulcimer player. Her extensive repertoire of classical, pop/rock, covers and original music is ideal for events requiring live music. Kayla also performs as part of a five piece ceilidh band and fronts a three piece covers band, playing at weddings, parties and corporate events.
Kayla's debut single was recently featured on BBC Radio, followed by her first EP released at the Edinburgh Fringe in August. Kayla is currently recording her debut album with engineer/producer Nigel Pease, fusing her traditional roots with live music technology.
