Kayla Ringelheim is a singer-songwriter who is making a name for herself in the New England area. She released her first CD, "Tides", in 2005, an EP entitled "Play" in 2007, and she recently finished a recording project with the wonderful producer/musician Lorne Entress. In 2007, she was a John Lennon Songwriting Contest Finalist for her song “Medals On My Chest.” At 20 years old, Kayla brings an incredible depth and level of sophistication to both her lyrics and musical arrangements. After reviewing "Tides", David Lavalley, Executive Director of The Center of the Arts in Natick said,
“The gorgeous clarity of Kayla’s voice on her debut CD conjures memories of early Joni Mitchell or Suzanne Vega – but hearing this young talented artist perform her own heartfelt songs on stage sends chills up the spine. Startlingly honest, Kayla is off to an impressive and promising start as a songwriter and performer.”
Kayla has been playing piano for ten years and has been writing music since age 13. Frequenting open mic nights for the past six years, Kayla has been a featured performer at Harvard Square's Club Passim, the Natick Center for the Arts, Amazing Things Arts Center, and Brown University, where she now is a sophomore. Other venues include Passim's Annual Memorial Day Campfire Festival, the American Cancer Society's fundraiser The Relay for Life, and various other local events.
Kayla brings passion to many areas of her life, but music has grown to be what she lives for and thrives off of. She has sung in jazz choirs, high school choruses, college jazz and a cappella groups, and studied jazz piano at Berklee College. Kayla finds inspiration for her own music through her passions, her life experiences, and her curiosity, which have given her a broad view of the world around her.
Stay tuned for show updates! And feel free to add your name to her mailing list (see the Nimbit store to the left). Thanks for listening.
You are incredibly talented. It was fantastic to hear you play at as220 last Sunday. Both I and a number of my friends would love to see you do more shows!
