.. .. .. Music has been shaping Francesco Sperotto's life since an early age and Kaysand, his latest acronym, is indeed just one piece of the puzzle. Early influences came from L.A. (Primus), Blackpool (Robert James Smith) and London (Basement Jaxx) but the turning point for his artistic development has undoubtly been the meeting with Alex Picone nearby his hometown. Indeed, after having spent more than ten years playing as drummer and singer, his meeting with the electronic phenomena has been kind of love at first sight for Francesco. "When we got in touch - he explains - i started wondering myself how to interact with him and how to relate myself to the project in order to make it work in the best way. For long time i'v been reconsidering, comparing and integrating my musical background with differents beats: techno, house, funk and deep. It has been kind of exciting and stimulating opening my mind to new experiences and purposes, starting interacting with instruments and softwares." That's how Chronic Flakes's first seed founded his place under the ground. Strong support to the duo came fastly and firstly by the Italian pop band "Planet Funk" and in a second moment by the dj and sound engineer of the band itself, Alex Neri. Neri signed them indeed for his own Tenax Imprint, where the guys released the "Ommadawn" Ep. Kay's profile started growing fastly, as testified by the success of his following releases. Firstly, the "Dance Tactics" and "Sweet Revenge" Eps on the Detroit based label Mixworks. Then, he joined again his fellow Alex Picone and backed him up in the production of Alex's debut release on Cadenza. Alex's release "Floppy/Furby", hitted place nr 2 in the top sellings ever of the label runned by the chilean artist Luciano. But something new is always behind the corner in Kay's life. After few weeks, another italian producer asked him to deliver an Ep for the launch of his own imprint. We're talking about Ilario Alicante, who wanted Kay for the debut release of his Deep Moves Imprint "Too Funghi". Here we are at nowadays, 2010: time to look at the bigger picture for Kaysand. After having relocated and moved his studio to Berlin, he got in touch with a lot of artists in town and started new collaborations and works. He backed up Mike Shannon (Cynosure/Wagon Repair,Plus 8..) in the realization of this last album for which he delivered few vocals and rhythmics, he then got signed other records on labels such as Monique Speciale "Cala S.Vicent E.P", Manocalda "Addicted E.P"(supported by Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Tony Humpries, Dj Gregory...) and MUS 002. His live performances are a fair mirror of his common musical approach. To a standard set up made of analogue drum machine and nord lead keyboards there's much more to add in terms of improvisations. Indeed, may it be with new beats or vocals, but there's always a lot of proper live work in Kaysand's shows. Gigs at Monza @ Privilege Ibiza, Ushuaia Ibiza, Watergate Berlin, Tenax in Florence and Altavoz in Venice are the first witnesses of his skills.
