VESAK PUJA CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY @ Dhammakaya International Meditation Center 801 E. Foothill Blvd. , Azusa, CA 91702
Monday, MAY 19, 2008 6:30 - 8:30pm FREE
The Ninth Annual Candlelight Ceremony for World Peace will be held Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Dhammakaya International Meditation Center in Asuza, California. At twilight over 300 Buddhist Monks will lead a procession with meditation of several thousand people while chanting the ancient Pali prayer for peace.
This will be held on the Vesak day which is the day believed to be the date that Buddha was born, reached enlightenment, and ascended to nirvana at his death.
This year's event will have an emphasis on those who have been affected by Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar (Burma). Our prayers go out to them as we light the candles.
Tonight, Friday 29th, at 4:30 PM at Pizzamania (located off of ATHERTON and PALO VERDE) we will be meeting up to socialize in order to get to know everyone a bit better (especially those who cannot attend regular meetings) and have some delicious vegan pizza!
So please come and join us in the fun!
...and if you have a bike, roller blades, skateboard, etc. stay tuned for Critical Mass, right after.
