Interests

  • General

  • Music

We've got thousands of CDs that you can check out for free.

  • Movies

We've got tons of DVDs that you can check out, and we're talking fiction as well as non-fiction.

  • Television

If you like TV, then you'll want to watch some of the hundreds of TV shows that you can check out at the library.

  • Books

What would a library be without books? We got row upon row of books, and if we don't have it, we'll get it for you from one of the other branches!

  • Heroes

Terry Pratchett is a pretty amazing guy. His latest book, Nation, is a survival story about a teen whose island is destroyed by a huge wave and the islander's interaction with outsiders. It's a great book, complete with a tree-dwelling octopus! Unfortunately, Terry Pratchett has developed Alzheimer's, though he's managed to write some pretty incredible books while battling it. Click here to learn more about Alzheimer's. For being such an amazing author while battling Alzheimer's, Terry Pratchett is our hero of the month!

About me:

The Des Moines Library has books, movies, music and programs for teens. The library is part of the King County Library System.

Want books, music, movies, and more? See what you can borrow for free from the library by searching our catalog:

There's lots going on at our library - we schedule book clubs, writing groups, video games, SAT prep and even more throughout the library system.

And, yes, we said video games - play console games after school during one of weekly our Game On events. These are strictly for teens 12 to 18.

You need Homework Help? We've got it online! With real tutors! It's free! Check out our Tutor.com service from 2pm until midnight.

You'll also find book lists and reading suggestions on our Teen Zone website.

The King County Library System does not in any way endorse the ads that appear on this page. We, unfortunately, have no control over this - MySpace is a commercial service and reserves the right to display ads from their vendors.

Who I'd like to meet:

Des Moines teens looking for top-notch free homework help, books, music, movies, and gaming/writing/reading events.

    Hey there!

Thanks for the add, I would like to tell you about my new book:

    The Tear Collector;

Fans of Twilight, the Vampire Diaries, and other vampire books should prepare for a new kind of vampire—one that feeds off of tears instead of blood. Descended from an ancient line of creatures that gain their energy from human tears, I depend on human sorrow to live. My job as a grief counselor at the hospital provides me with perfect cover to keep this secret safe, and any time a friend needs a shoulder to cry on, I'm there. Only I've grown tired of living a lie and I wants to live like a human, especially now that I've found someone worth fighting for.

Check it out and let me know what you think?

    Best,
    Patrick Jones

Happy Teen Read Week; read beyond reality with The Tear Collector ("an interesting twist on the popular vampire genre, and readers will be caught up in Cass's difficult dilemma of choosing between love or family." – Booklist)
