We pour with a heavy hand and the booze is cheap. We serve cans and bottled beer. The crowd is as mixed as the jukebox and just as enjoyable. You'll see a lot of regulars, and it's not hard to see why. Close to the P&L it's the perfect spot to grab a drink before or after a show. A fun place to bring a date since most of the vagrants in the neighborhood are regulars and will note the fresh meat, and after a few tentative staggers they will come close--very close--to make her feel especially at home. We love our regulars, and you will too! So, whether you're killing a Saturday afternoon with a few CANs of $2.25 PBRs or staring down the blouse of the buxom bartenders on a Friday night, a good time will be had all the way around. We serve all the fancy liquor, and nuthin’ but bottles & cans for beer. Don't ask the bartender what's on tap...the answer will be, "nothing!" Hit the ATM ‘cause it’s cash only.

You will feel extremely out of place if you fail to be able to sing every word to either "You Never Even Called Me by my Name" or "I Love This Bar". Hey bartender, TURN IT UP!!
For those of you who can't wait to get behind a mic, drop by during our newest venture... Karaoke night (once a month) with DJ Julie. | | Television | Yes, we actually do have TV's, but no, they aren't flat screens. They are relics left over from the 80's when the bar first opened. But hey, we aren't complaining... we feel lucky to have finally gotten satellite last year! Let's be clear... we are a DRINKING bar! Our patrons do not seek us out to be entertained by the latest sitcom or reality show. We have our own show performed live by local talent on a daily basis... impromptu... We call it, "As the Zoo Turns!" Sit in for a few hours and you are sure to get the latest update. Sure, we may occasionally glance up to see the score of a game when there is that rare lull in tittilating conversation, but the real action is live! | | Books |
We have a swap and borrow book collection over in the corner. Take one home, bring it back, or bring in another book to replace it. Just because we are a dive bar, doesn't mean we don't have some intellectual conversations! | | Heroes | Anyone to boldly patronize this drinking establishment often enough to be called "regulars". It's a title well earned and believe me, they are proud of it! A few of our persistant regulars have even earned an engraved gold name plate permanently embedded onto the bar marking their reserved seat. When you come to the Zoo, belly up to the bar, mingle with the locals (both young and "seasoned"), take a look around and realize you are finally home, you will enviously wish you had your own gold plaque! |
