My interest? Those who know me, know I love to help people. I remember back in high school, me and my friend Ben would always try to do some type of good deed every day. From helping a blind woman with her shopping. to responding to a wreck to see if we could help out some way.
After getting my ham radio license. I was introduced to Emergency Management. I seem to fit in well with the group. It follows my passion to help those in need. Also growing up with parents in Social Science fields. I think it helps me able to better assist the community in times of crisis, or critical incidents.
I have worked in locations as a volunteer emergency manager such as Greensburg, Kansas, Jefferson County Oklahoma, and my home town of Chapman, Kansas.
I also have been a storm spotter for the Stephens/Jefferson CO Eoc, and Riley County Kansas EOC.
I love the work, and protecting my family and my neighbors.
Christina and I attended the NWS Severe Weather Workshop in Norman, Oklahoma.
It was a very enjoyable, and informative workshop. We where able to meet some old friends, and make some new connections as well.
Friday night after the session we went to the NWS office @ the OU campus in Norman. There we took a tour of the building, and the Forcast/Storm Prediction Center offices. Also just before the tour they held a ve session and Christina got her Technician ticket. Her call came out today as KE5ZSO.
If anyone gets the chance to attend one of these conferences, we highly recommend it.
