Keanan Duffty is a musician and award-winning British fashion designer based in New York. Duffty believes that music and fashion go hand in hand. He was a founding member of the British Punk band Sordid Details, formed in 1978 (when Keanan was 14 years old). Sordid Details were heavily influenced by the Sex Pistols, for whom Duffty designed stage clothes in 2003.
In 1980 Keanan formed Wonder Stories, a New Romantic group influenced by David Bowie and Roxy Music. Their live shows gained good reviews in the Sounds music paper and support from Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell. Wonder Stories played gigs during 1980 and 1981. By 1982 Duffty had chosen to study fashion design at St. Martin's School Of Art. In London, Keanan worked at PX, the New Romantic boutique and former stomping ground of the fabulous DJ Princess Julia and Visage front man Steve Strange.
In 1983 Duffty found an experienced music business manager, Falcon Stuart (former manager of Adam & The Ants and X Ray Spex). Stuart encouraged Duffty to record demos for EMI, ZTT and MCA records, eventually releasing a 12" dance mix of 'Water Sport' on Falcon Stuart's Awesome Records label (AOR4). Duffty recorded a 4 song session at BBC's Maida Vale Studios for Radio 1 DJ Janice Long. 'Water Sport' was record of the week in Smash Hits, received good reviews in the British music press, and became an underground club hit in the UK. Duffty played shows in London including the ID Magazine Fifth anniversary party at the ICA. Duffty graduated from St. Martins in 1986. His graduation collection earned him a Bachelor Of Arts First Class Honors degree in fashion.
Duffty relocated to New York and in 1998 he recorded the song 'I Am An Alien' under the name Slinky Vagabond. The VIDEO featured famed downtown diva Amanda Lepore as a futuristic nurse and has become a cult classic. Duffty also recorded an album of angular modern rock songs including a cover of the Bauhaus classic 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'.
Since 1999 Duffty has created the sound tracks for his fashion shows, including original material and 'mash ups' - all of which have recieved acclaim. In 2002 Keanan co-wrote tracks for the Yellow Note album 'We Love Everybody...You're Next'.
In 2007, Duffty formed the band Slinky Vagabond with Earl Slick (Bowie band), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), and Clem Burke (Blondie). Keanan Duffty's clothing is available from Target stores nationwide and from www.target.com.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
