KeyChelle Whitney, an American pop
oriented R&B singer-songwriter from Clarksville, TN. KeyChelle is known for
her angelic vocals with an eclectic mix of pop, smooth R&B, jazz, rock n roll,
country and her uncanny ability to breathe life into words. With African
American, Puerto Rican and Sicilian decent; Ke'Chelle, the middle of 3
siblings is not the only musically talented family member. Her older sister Alicia Sandra Hodge is a talented vocalist, guitar player, drummer, and
percussionist. At the age of 11 KeyChelle began writing and recording her own songs, developing her own archive of books and journals filled with
writings of thoughts, poems, and songs throughout her adolescent years. Recording her first song “Who am I” at the age of thirteen with family
friends. This was experimental by mixing KeyChelle vocals with a rock techno vibe. She explains it as "work your body music". KeyChelle landed several
jobs doing demos and recording cover tunes, as well as her own. Her influences are among legends as Whitney Houston, Crystal Lewis, Sade, Prince, and Stevie Wonder.
Attending the Fine Arts Festival in Washington, D.C (2003) KeyChelle received high accolades bringing home superior invitation in the finals. KeyChelle was among 150 out of thousands of American Idol hopefuls that made it to Hollywood for American Idol Season 8.
Now living in Atlanta GA., KeyChelle is in the studio perfecting her art and looking to inspire us with her prolific writing and vocal skills. With all the anticipation of what the rest of 2009 will bring, Keychelle is looking forward to the release of her first album "Bound No More" in September.
