Through active partnerships with neighborhoods, businesses, youth, schools, community leaders and government, we have a viable, sustainable impact on the lives of residents in the Indianapolis area and the neighborhoods in which they live. We do this
KIB occupies a unique role. We work at the grassroots level by partnering with community-based organizations to engage them in over 400 community and environmental improvement projects each year. The breadth of our programs is far-reaching and includes an average of 30,000 volunteers recruited annually to help with home repairs for low-income homeowners, creating and enhancing greenspaces, community tree plantings, litter clean ups, and environmental education projects. No other nonprofit reaches into so many communities and with so many volunteers in this kind of collaborative process.

KIB has earned a reputation for recruiting and motivating volunteers on worthwhile projects that add value to neighborhoods throughout the city. Our projects enhance and improve decaying areas of the city, helping to create a healthier environment for business, adding luster to the community, creating a greater appreciation of the city by its visitors, and giving citizens the opportunity to invest in the city’s future.
