Influences
I've watched every comic I could since I was a child. Being in Hawaii, that meant whoever got on television (thank goodness for the old Ed Sullivan show and the rest of the 'variety' shows that don't exist anymore). It was an odd mix for a Hawaiian kid in Honolulu: Borscht Belt (Myron Cohen) to the Chitlin circuit (Moms Mabley) and everyone in between: Steve Allen, Alan King, Woody Allen, Mel Brooks & Carl Reiner's 'Two thousand year old man', Stan Freeburg, Groucho Marx, Robert Klein, Jonathan Winters. If it was funny, I watched it. As I got older, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, some of the old crop of Vegas comics like Shecky Greene, Buddy Hackett. Not many women to pattern myself after, just Joan Rivers before she nipped and tucked her face into unrecognizable configurations and was still fast and funny. Loved Monty Python (the Argument Clinic and the Cheese Shop rate up there with the classic Dead Parrot sketch) and an obscure group called the Firesign Theater. Love watching Chris Rock because he is so bold, Lewis Black, Wanda Sykes who has got to be one of the funniest women around. Ausie comics I like include Bev Killick, Jackie Loeb, Dave Williams, Fiona O'Loughlin, Dave Grant, Paul Brasch, Steve Sheehan, Big Al. Endless! Hard to make a list when there are so many; you learn a little from everybody.

Kehau Jackson's Interests
General
reading, writing, comedy, art
Music
Anything as long as it's good...but lean towards Hawaiian classics, jazz, R & B, Motown, and the dreaded Broadway musical.
Movies
My favorite film of all time has to be Young Frankenstein. I'm ashamed to say I know the dialogue by heart. In my defense, I'm not the only one. My friend Stan and I can do the entire movie. We don't do the Rocky Horror thing and dress up or anything That would be sad, and slightly creepy.
Television
Afraid I am one of those National Geographic, History and Discovery channel geeks. And of course, the Comedy Channel. I am also easily tempted by anything faintly Agatha Christie.
Books
For pleasure reading, mysteries. Tend to like some of the classic writers (Christie, Sayers,et.al) and historical series, like the ones featuring Gordianus the Finder of ancient Rome or Brother Cadfael in 12th century Britain or Sister Fidelma in 14th century Ireland. (Hmmm...guess you can never escape Catholic school.) It's a disappointment when you have to wait for the next book to come out. Especially tough waiting for Agatha. Other books that clutter my bookshelves show my interest in history, biography, and philosophy of all kinds. Basically, I read a lot of stuff!
Heroes
My first and biggest hero is my Dad, Edward Kauaowaiakea Lee (Sr.) who gave me a love of music and entertaining, nurtured my creative talent and encouraged my sense of humor. He was a kind, loving, highly intelligent and accomplished person who overcame poverty and negative circumstances without it ever affecting his positive spirit and warm personality. I have yet to meet anyone like him. I miss him every day.
About me: Hi, my name is Kehau and I'm a Hawaiian stand up comic far away from Hawaii! I remarried five years ago and moved from Honolulu, a city on a small island (O'ahu) to Adelaide, South Australia, a city on a really really big island. Since then I've been hitting the comedy circuit here in "Oz" traveling the major cities as well as in Adelaide. Lucky for me, comedy is strong here in Australia with a lot of incredible talent. I'm just happy they let me share the stage! If you're in the neighborhood, stop by one of the shows.
Who I'd like to meet: You! Or alternately, an old geezer about to croak with lots of money who will leave it to me when he goes. And Mel Brooks, comedy genius.
Welcome to 2009 (abit belated). What lays in store? Flying Cars, monkey butlers, jet packs, advance sexy robotic maids? Well sadly none of that (sexy robo maids are still in their sexy infancy), what we do have is a new episode of the rogues gallery! Jacky and Richy return for your listening pleasure to talk about the usual crap; including worst jobs in the world, life according to a Dungeons and Dragons fanatic and the Inaugural Brisbane Comedy festival.
Anyway promises to be fun. So visit us and spread the mirth!
Just dropping by to give a heads up that Ep 5 of the Rogues Gallery is up. If you hated waiting for forever and day to download the podcast, you can now stream it live directly via our myspace. Just go to our myspace to listen to a new podcast each week. Listen in during the Christmas break for our special Adelaide show with Jason Chong, Gordon Southern (UK) and other comedy delights.
This is Richy here from the Rogues Gallery. Just thought I should give you a heads up that Episode 1-4 are now up on the myspace. Enjoy them all in their lackluster glory. Hopefully like a fine wine it will be matured, have character and all traces of poo jokes eliminated.
Check by our myspace this Monday coming when we have Tripod on for a special Rogues Gallery podcast.
