JULY 25TH - STAN WEBB'S CHICKEN SHACK
Originally part of Mike Vernon’s Blue Horizon stable which dominated the British blues renaissance of the late sixties, Chicken Shack’s reputation was built on the virtuoso guitar playing of Stan Webb and the singing of soon to be Fleetwood Mac megastar Christine Perfect (McVie), whose version of Etta James’s ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ provided their only hit single. The band first entered the recording studio in late 1967 to lay down tracks for their debut album ‘40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed’. Following the disc’s success and still only 21, the prodigiously talented Webb quickly brought the band back to the studio to record the album ‘OK Ken?’ which peaked at no. 9 in the UK chart. Since that initial success Webb has continued to hone his skills by playing with the very best, most notably ‘Savoy Brown’, Stevie Wonder, Howlin’ Wolf and a triumvirate of himself, Miller Anderson and Kim Simmonds, before returning to the ‘Chicken Shack’ moniker. In 1997 Stan received the ‘Blue Heart Award’ for services to blues in Germany’ (won by B.B. King the previous year) and in 2001 Indigo Records released the CD ‘Webb’ to great critical acclaim. Now in his 60s Stan Webb’s stage presence, musicianship and fervour continue to please his cult audience.

'JET' MARTIN CELMINS
Since 1991, this self confessed harmlessly obsessive fanatic of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, has devoted all his time to playing and writing about music. His well received biography of said blues guitarist lead to Jet Martin, solo guitarist and one-man band, becoming Green’s ‘Splinter Group’s regular support act on most British appearances since 1997. His delta blues style has become a firm favourite on the live music circuit leading to an invitation to appear on the Blue Flame CD ‘Tribute To Fleetwood Mac, Blues Years Vol. 2’ where he is featured on tracks “The World Keep On Turning” and “Sandy Mary”.
