Kelley Kelley is a true artist. He is a musical architect with strong vision. With his diverse musical background, he is a chameleon, who writes music that merges soulful singing, thick psychedelic pop melodies, and funky sonic trickery.
Kelley Kelley was a lovechild, born and raised in the Minneapolis sound. He cut his teeth in the industry playing keyboards and singing backgrounds for CBS platinum recording artist Alexander O’Neal. Kelley Kelley also played with Motown recording artist Brownmark (formerly bass player with Prince and the Revolution). He continued working in the Minneapolis scene with Warner Bros./Reprise recording artist Tony LeMans, and finally becoming musical director for Warner Bros. recording artist Ingrid Chavez (Co-wrote “Justify my love” for Madonna).
Not content to tour and play second fiddle, Kelley Kelley broke out on his own and turned his focus to writing and producing. Always on the cutting edge of technology, he opened one of the first hard-disk recording studios in Minneapolis, “Rockhouse Music Group”. Kelley Kelley continued developing his writing and production skills working with local hip-hop artists and rock bands. Coming from a multi-racial background allowed Kelley Kelley to function equally well in both genres, with his own sound being a funky hybrid of the two. Kelley Kelley was constantly improving his production style, which combines hypnotic drum grooves, thunderous bass, old-school skank guitar, and deliciously tasty keyboard riffs. This did not go unrecognized as he soon achieved critical acclaim, winning the Minnesota Music Video Award for his single “Teardrops” and was nominated for hip-hop album of the year for his production of local artist Top Tone. This experience placed Kelley Kelley’s unique sound in high demand, being sought after by Taco Bell, Subway, and many other corporations for commercial work. Still, this did not quench his insatiable thirst for creating the sonically uncreated. He packed his bags and signed up at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he was featured on multiple promotional Cds and was hailed for bringing the funk to Berklee.
Kelley Kelley is spreading the love to your eardrums. His music is the soul, his production is the heartbeat. Kelley Kelley is an explorer, an innovator, a true composer, bridging what’s already been done with what’s to come.
