i wasnt a cheerleader, didnt make the honor roll, but i did go to a couple of proms & my last report card was pretty good. YaY me! i played soccer when i was younger & i was on the 'cheer team' in jr high.
i loved kids & helped 3 children in Darfur every month. i had a giving spirit & still do.
i collected candles, fairies & pixies. i had the longest eyelashes of anyone you would ever meet. so long that i even trimmed them so people would stop saying they were fake! lol
i loved to play pranks on people- even though it usually got me in trouble. umm like putting a rubber band around the spayer thingy at the kitchen sink so that the next person that turned on the water = SO OWNED! *snickers*
i loved macaroni N cheese, chocolate chip cookie dough (lol), Jolly Ranchers ruled, taco hell & ramen noodles, which we called "roman numerals" (family joke). i drove my mom cRaZy(ier) by cooking things in the microwave in plastic bowls, which made them turn gross colors. *angel giggles*
i rock'd NIKE, ECHO & LUGZ! i supported the Carolina Panthers, the Tar Heels & the oHIo State Buckeye's!!
i was a down girl that & everyone loved to chill with. i was pretty much hilarious to hang out with
i would do ANYTHING for my friends. some would say i was 'loyal to a fault'. remember Lindsey when you were in the emergency room and i showed up in my pajamas when i got the call so i could be with you? lol. yeah, i was THAT girl.
i struggled with addictions to drugs and alcohol. the old lady tried to get me help but no place would take me for treatment in SC or NC b/c i was a minor at the time & they dont have adolescent centers :(
my mom called family courts in Rock HIll for help but they said i was too old for them to help me (i was 15!) so she called a judge in rock hill to get me probated into someplace, anyplace - she knew i was in trouble. Judge Getty said he couldnt probate me into a facility because i was a minor & to call family courts...umm yeah, thats who said to call you *eyeroll*
it was the same thing with every phone call, they couldnt do anything because i was considered an adult. i was 15!! swEEt!! i didnt even have to "fight for my right to parrrrty" it was handed to me by the state of south carolina!
after awhile, even i knew i had a problem.
my mom took me to a "Dr." in charlotte who was supposed to be an 'expert' on teens. she was SO good that we had to wait EIGHT friggin months to see her! when our day came & we showed up at her office in Charlotte NC-- she refused to see me because i might be a "dual diagnosis" of alcoholism and depression. WTF?
k, first- how do you know if you havent even seen me??? and so what if i was both??!

so after not getting anyone to help, i had to wait until i turned 18 then i checked myself into a rehab called "Keystone". they would only keep me for 5 days, so when i got out i did 12 step meetings. i was doing pretty good until that night. i'm proof that not everyone makes it back after a relapse.

Short version of that night:
Winthrop College students passed out flyers at my high school to make money off of us by selling us alcohol in their home.
hey..$5.00 to drink all ya want..ya know I
couldn't pass that up!
i left my house with mah crew & had a designated driver
(these are not the girls i went to the party with)
we went to Rock HIll to the house of the college students.
i was 18 so i wasn't old enough to buy alcohol. so yeah. i dont think the 3 people that had the party cared very much about us leaving their house & dying that night because they had another party the very next saturday & kept doing so until they moved.
anywayz....
I had a good time, danced alot, drank a lot.
Ended up not leavin with my girlz. Dumb me! well ok, i wasnt really dumb, i was REALLY drunk. my BAC was 211.0!! our driver was 252.0!!!
I left the party with Jason Dye, who i knew from school.
Jason was getting a ride home from his friend, Tommy Byington [driver]. Tommy was giving another kid, Erich Preisach, a ride to his car which was parked on Gold Hill Rd.
we dropped Erich off and talked to him for a minute while i got out of the back seat and took Erich's place in the front. my last words to Erich were.. "k, it's freezin ima go home"
Erich was following us, b/c after the boyz dropped me off, they were all going to charlotte to eat.
We were on a really curvey road- Gold Hill, when
the two cars started racing. I begged Tommy
to stop.. i had a HUGE fear of other people driving (even my mom!) now we all know why!!
I knew we were going down...
but when you try to have a conversation with
someone drunk, well-
Alcohol,... always has the last word!!!!
anywayz... the car went up in the air...took out
the top of three trees & landed upside down in someone's front yard.
i was three miles from my house :*(
I was sittin in the front passenger seat
Me, Jason & Tommy didn't make it. Three families got THE "knock at the door" that night.
the only way they could tell us apart was i had deep red hi-lights in my hair. [i did the same thing to my wings]
we were all wayyy over 2x the legal limit. it's ok to test dead passengers but not the other UNDERAGE drunk driver that lived?! the "trooper" even told my mom that Erich had been drinking! hey Mike Still, way to serve & protect!! *mom sarcasm*
if ya want to see a movie (my friends & fam are in it!) bout this night & other kids like us... call the

(not that anyone got prosecuted- ..and this is my mom speaking- as she has vito power on my page- darn her!... but no one gave a crap about our deaths) so the least they can do is send "GRAVE DECISIONS" to ya 4 phree!!!

My brother was paralyzed by a Drunk Driver. He turned his nightmare into something good. By being in the olympics and owning his own gyms. But I know he would give it all back for that night back. My heart breaks for you, mommy. I am a mommy too, I can feel your heart hurt.
