For Kellie Stroud, passion for music has been a way of life. Raised on Motown, country, and gospel music, it is easy to understand where her soulful, hard-hitting sound comes from. Stroud may be recognizable to many as the lead singer for the Nor-Cal country-rock band “Highway 20”, but has long wished to pursue solo songwriting and recording endeavors. In creating her own sound, Stroud has consistently worked to honor her influences, like Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Faith Hill, Alabama and The Eagles. Her debut demo, “Welcome to this Crazy Life” is laced with nods to these influences: big guitars, sweeping melodies, and of course, ground-shaking power vocals.
Stroud’s homespun roots are deeply planted in the small town of Colusa, California, providing a lifetime of true world experiences and stories that have driven her songwriting. She pours herself into her songs, which tell stories of personal strife, success, and spirit. Kellie hopes to continue creating more music, bringing soul and raising roofs by doing things the old fashion way: following her heart and wherever this musical path takes her.
