BIO - APRIL 2008
Kell Stoner’s debut self-titled EP will be available in stores across Australia from mid-May 2008 through Vitamin Records.
To celebrate the launch of her long awaited recording debut Kell Stoner and her little band of misfits will be touring up and down the East Coast of Australia throughout May, June and July 2008. (please see website and myspace for dates as they lock in!)
Produced and recorded by country and roots stalwarts Bill Chambers & Jeff MCormack, her debut brings together a love of blues, alt. country and soul laden lyrics and melodies… polished, but still raw enough to have feeling and guts - it's got heart!
Kell approached Bill at one of his gigs and asked if he’d be interested in producing her debut recording, he said he’d take a listen, and Kell handed over her demo. Bill rang the very next morning. ‘Kell’s influenced by the world’s great singer/songwriters,’ says Bill of her music. ‘But she still sounds uniquely like herself. Very cool music.'
Two original songs from the debut have just featured on the nationally televised Australian of the Year Awards, and the follow up documentary, where her little bro, Casey Stoner, picked up young Australian of the year. Selected tracks have also been released early to several radio stations which have received them warmly and given them many a spin including; Triple j, Coast FM (Central Coast) and ABC 1233 Newcastle and ABC radio state-wide.
Kell has just wound up the year with a bunch of shows with Jez Mead and support shows for the Lost Dogs (the Chambers clan). Playing acoustic and electric guitars, stompbox and harmonica, Kell will be accompanied by a small band of misfits adding skins, electric blues, swampy lap steel and sweet acoustics to everything from stomping blues grooves to watery folk ballads that ache for the sea. Over the past few years Kell has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Mia Dyson, the Stiff Gins, Karma County, Ember Swift, David Bridie, Liz Stringer, The Beautiful Girls, Jez Mead, iOTA, Bill Chambers, The Lost Dogs (featuring Bill Chambers, Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson) and has played heaps of festivals and venues up and down the East Coast of Australia.
Kell also organises music and community events, takes photos and writes..lots...
...below are photos from a solo trip around India in 2005.....
Thank you for sending your music in to FBi 94.5FM. I am pleased to let you know that we have passed your CD on to In The Pines with Dave Regos which is the most appropriate show for your tunes.
> FEEDBACK
Due to the large volumes of music we get sent each week at FBi it is difficult for us to give you individual feedback on your music. All releases sent to FBi each week are listened to by our Music Director and passed on to the most appropriate announcers to give you the best chance of airplay. However, essentially it is at the presenters discretion whether they play your CD on their show or not. If you would like to follow up your CD, go to www. fbiradio. com , click on The Program Grid and then the specific shows that have got your release. You can then email them directly for feedback by emailing the address on their show page or at reception@fbiradio.com . We will then pass on your email to the presenter. > MUSIC OPEN DAY
If you are after further feedback, you can come along to our Music Open Day which happens on the first Monday of each month from 3-6pm at the FBi studios - 44-54 Botany Rd, Alexandria. There is no need to make a booking, just turn up with your music (multiple copies would be great, with bios and contacts details for every CD) and we will endevour to provide individual feedback for your release.
