Thanks for visiting my new site and giving my songs a listen.
This time around, instead of finding someone else to write my bio, here’s a little bit about me written by me.
I was a big baby (11.5 lbs.) born in Hollywood, Ca. at Cedars of Lebanon to my musician parents Daniel Dalton & Lois Fletcher. Cedars of Lebanon has since been leveled & is now the Mecca of Scientology....yes, I am serious.
Music was always being performed, written and recorded around my brothers, sisters and I throughout our childhood, so I was always playing around on the piano and guitar and trying to learn what I've heard. I tried to sing, but I was too shy, didn’t like my voice and vowed never to sing in front of people again.
Beginning in Junior High School, I started playing guitar, piano and writing songs. I continued and started playing in a few bands for the next several years. I played live, toured some and recorded a few albums up until somewhere in 2005.
I unfortunately lost a few close people to me in a short amount of time.
It was then that I took a deep breath and thought about my life.
I decided to trade in some heavy amps & loud guitars for a nice acoustic guitar and an upright piano. I also concentrated on writing songs. I knew it was time to get over my stage fright and start singing my own songs. For the first time as a songwriter, I started writing knowing I was going to sing what I wrote.
One afternoon, I recorded a live version of my first song as a singer songwriter called “Worth It All” with Producer Jon Ingoldsby. I posted it free online and received thousands of downloads, comments and inspiration to continue.
With the help of Producers Thom Flowers & Emile Millar, I recorded my first album with some great local musicians (members of Ryan Adams, Aimee Mann, Dwight Yoakum and more) and independently released my debut album “The Love In Every Bar”.
I received some national exposure and got a handful of nice European reviews. Then I had a couple songs hit college radio, international charts and was placed on couple soundtracks.
I toured the East Coast a little & played “The Hotel Café” a lot.
Recently I recorded a 6 song EP titled “Home” with Producer Thom Flowers up in Santa Barbara, Ca. Some of my live band buddies Cisco Deluna (Dobro, Accordion) & Ben Pringle (Organs, Harmonies) came in and added their magic. Also, my friend and fellow singer/songwriter Holly Brook completed it by adding her beautiful voice on a few tracks.
Feel free to stop in and say hello and always rememer, never be afraid to go take your own deep breath.
~Kelly
hi, thanx for finding me, and thanx for the nice musical journey you have given me. Your voice has a powerful soothing feeling to it, the lap steel is beautiful, man everything's beautiful. Im glad you came by. sincerely, jake.
Just put this little project together so all support/advice well received and would like to befriend more people with the same passion for music as I do.
Look forward to speaking to you soon and let me know what you think
You know I am really impressed that you have the power to take a song as famous as Fire by Springsteen and make it your own. Great guitar too. Thanks for the add. We are supposed to do some gigs in LA this summer. We'll try to catch you when we come down. Thanks for the add. Andrew The Drews
