Thanks for visiting my new site and giving my songs a listen.
This time around, instead of finding someone else to write my bio, here’s a little bit about me written by me.
I was a big baby (11.5 lbs.) born in Hollywood, Ca. at Cedars of Lebanon to my musician parents Daniel Dalton & Lois Fletcher. Cedars of Lebanon has since been leveled & is now the Mecca of Scientology....yes, I am serious.
Music was always being performed, written and recorded around my brothers, sisters and I throughout our childhood, so I was always playing around on the piano and guitar and trying to learn what I've heard. I tried to sing, but I was too shy, didn’t like my voice and vowed never to sing in front of people again.
Beginning in Junior High School, I started playing guitar, piano and writing songs. I continued and started playing in a few bands for the next several years. I played live, toured some and recorded a few albums up until somewhere in 2005.
I unfortunately lost a few close people to me in a short amount of time.
It was then that I took a deep breath and thought about my life.
I decided to trade in some heavy amps & loud guitars for a nice acoustic guitar and an upright piano. I also concentrated on writing songs. I knew it was time to get over my stage fright and start singing my own songs. For the first time as a songwriter, I started writing knowing I was going to sing what I wrote.
One afternoon, I recorded a live version of my first song as a singer songwriter called “Worth It All” with Producer Jon Ingoldsby. I posted it free online and received thousands of downloads, comments and inspiration to continue.
With the help of Producers Thom Flowers & Emile Millar, I recorded my first album with some great local musicians (members of Ryan Adams, Aimee Mann, Dwight Yoakum and more) and independently released my debut album “The Love In Every Bar”.
I received some national exposure and got a handful of nice European reviews. Then I had a couple songs hit college radio, international charts and was placed on couple soundtracks.
I toured the East Coast a little & played “The Hotel Café” a lot.
Recently I recorded a 6 song EP titled “Home” with Producer Thom Flowers up in Santa Barbara, Ca. Some of my live band buddies Cisco Deluna (Dobro, Accordion) & Ben Pringle (Organs, Harmonies) came in and added their magic. Also, my friend and fellow singer/songwriter Holly Brook completed it by adding her beautiful voice on a few tracks.
Feel free to stop in and say hello and always rememer, never be afraid to go take your own deep breath.
~Kelly
I was gonna leave you a really cool and clever graphic comment to express my vast admiration for the music, but you disabled HTML., and now I can't think of a single original thing to say.
Just stopping by to say hello and hope you are having a fantastic day. Absolutely love your music! Wondering if you might be headed toward san diego to play a show anytime soon? would love to see you play. Take care, Cherie
Hey Kelly. I was just stopping by to say hello to an old MySpace friend. We used to comment back and forth more years ago. I haven't commented you in a while though. I just wanted to tell you that your music has stayed with me over the years and has inspired me many times. When ever I am having a bad day or I just need to hear something beautiful, I turn on one of your songs. Thank you for all the good times. Write back soon.
Hello Kelly Dalton, Thank your for your continued friendship and support. I am now booking anytime, anywhere. I am the "budget inn" of Christian artists, I only want what I need to live while I am ministering for Him. God has provided that for all of His servants, the priests who served at His temple were provided food, clothes, and shelter, and that's all I ask for. I would be honored if you booked me or knew someone that would and put the word out to them for me. Thank you and God bless you always
Today, I was having a SLURPEE out on the balcony of my apartment and when I was walking back into the house I walked straight into the large glass sliding door loudly whacking it with my forehead, FUNNY ME!
