| General | i'm interested in sinking deep into a novel, or a biography, and the new york times or the new yorker or the huff post, yes kids reading is my thing. i'm interested in helping this country elect a new government. i'm not too interested in TV; maybe charlie rose and jon stewart. i'm interested in gardens and trees and cute dogs and cats. i'm interested in the United Kingdom and Italy and France and tropical places with white beaches and turquoise water, and I love Portland and Vancouver BC. i like to stare at the mountain ranges on either side of my city, especially at sunrise and sunset, and dream. and my son IS my sunrise and sunset--he is an awesome 17 year old dude. | | Music | i love everything: beethoven's seventh, the brandenburgs, schubert, james taylor, jerry douglas, alison krauss, etta james, yo yo ma, miles, carmen, bill evans, bill mays, ann hampton callaway, chaka khan, jimmy webb, gillian welch, eryka badhu, timberlake and timbaland, the killers, keane, patty griffin, joan osbourne, nickel creek, zero 7 and almost anything hiphop and tom petty and dylan and coldplay and definitely feist (ah leslie) and a little bit of rap and onward and upward. the beatles and paul simon and joni mitchell and brian wilson and randy newman go without even saying. dusty springfield is my favorite singer. | | Movies | annie hall and local hero and anything richard curtis and dozens and dozens far into the beyond. i have gotten way behind though and just made up my mind to rent a DVD a week starting yesterday. | | Television | What is with me? I have seen no television in three years except for Project Runway and Tim Gunn my irresistible gnome. Cablewise I know I may be missing out on an entire education, and yet LIFE IS SO FULL when you are making your own entertainment!! | | Books | oh people, life is too short: read. Read the classics and the new bestsellers. Go for it, because it is the answer to life, beyond drugs, beyond fun. not only the brontes and flaubert and fitzgerald and willa cather and roth, but have you read zadie smith? i had a zadie smith summer, and i was rollicking every day. | | Heroes | Will Reeve; Will Deardorf. |
