I am so honored to announce that I am the third place winner of the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest for my song "Serigene". I have been given the opportunity to play a set at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 11th. I am very excited to take the trip out to Oklahoma to perform at this event especially because the festival pays tribute to the memory of Woody Guthrie who is one of my personal heroes. I admire the strong and lasting influence that he made on folk music. He spread the word of the common man and fought for peace, equality and freedom for all regardless of race and gender.
Some History of the festival:
The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival was founded in 1998 to celebrate the life and music of Woody Guthrie. It is held annually on the weekend closest to July 14th (which was Woody Guthrie's birthday) in Okemah, Ok (Guthrie's hometown).

I love to sing and write music. Ever since I got my first guitar when I was 12, I haven't been able to put it down. Now I play at coffeehouses and clubs around Rochester.
I just recently recorded my first CD which is entitled "Under The Lens". The CD includes 11 of my original songs and a variety of musical genres ranging from pop/rock to blues and urban folk. The CD is onsale now!! :-D

I am influenced by many artists but my biggest influence is definitely Joni Mitchell. I love how she is so expressive with her lyrics and free with her voice. Music just seems to pour out of her.
Another band that has influenced me is The Beatles. They were always experimenting with new musical styles. They tried to challenge the listener and I think that that is really cool. They are my favorite band of all time.
A contemporary artist that I like is Regina Spektor. She is quirky and unique and I love her strange melodies and lyrics.
In my spare time I love to paint and draw and of course sing and write music. I also love psychology, I think it's really interesting.
Well, hopefully this has helped you get to know me a little bit better.
I hope you enjoy my music! :-D

thanks! i actually wasn't too proud of my imagine cover-of-a-cover, for some reason. it didn't really come out how i wanted it too. needless to say thanks for the listens, encouragement is always a great thing to receive, especially from fellow artists.
http://www. myspace. com/bubzacoustic thats my acoustic stuff. not too great, recording quality isn't too good, did most of it on election day with nothing else going on (and an itch to make some music.) also, still trying to find my voice.
http://www. myspace. com/hiddenbeneaththewood that is my friend and i. ronnie (the friend) does the vocals and lyrics on that, and harmonica as well. we haven't gotten time to practice recently, unfortunately.
that includes few of the many songs i've done on guitar pro. one i actually decided to sing on, and it's a cover of a cover of a john lennon song. didn't come out too well but i posted it anyhow.
groovy : D im open to everything, but since money only allows me to have an acoustic (my electric needs to be fixed right now) all i currently do is acoustic stuff. i guess i have a greater passion for that out of most though.
i also have this computer thing called guitar pro. basically its a tablature software that you can write music with, and they supply you with all sorts of instruments. most are played back in midi format, but some things like drums, guitar and bass, playback using RSE, which is Realistic Sound Engine, which essentially makes them sound closer to actual instruments. that tool helped me learn a lot about music theory
ah i see thats groovy. i've been itching to work on some stuff with my friend in this little thing we got, but we're both so busy we just can't have time to work on it. i'd love to play a show though
