The word "ruth" means "friend", and a friendly atmosphere is exactly what you get with Philadelphia folk band Kelly and The Ruths. With their smooth vocals, jazz-inspired folk tunes, and laid-back stage presence, The Ruths will delight fans of many genres.
Their debut album, Wild Things was released in October 2008 and a mid-west tour began in March 2009, where they entertained colleges such as Shippensburg University, Elizabethtown College, West Virginia University, and Manchester College, IN. But nothing can take these fun, carefree musicians away from their true home; Philadelphia. They have played at Philly's beloved venues including The Tin Angel, The North Star Bar, World Cafe Live, and Milkboy Coffee.
Fresh off their win at the 2009 Philadelphia Songwriters Project Contest, Kelly and The Ruths have performed at the Kimmel Center Summer Solstice Fest, Bethlehem Musikfest, Philly Folk Fest, and have been featured on WXPN's Folk Show. The Ruths are currently working on their sophomore album.
