  • Bio

Kelsey Skaggs, has played many shows throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky and Nashville sharing the stage with great artists such as Audio Talks (formerly Audio Adrenaline), Aaron Tippin, Eowyn, Phil Stacy, Avalon, Brit Nicole, Bluetree, Sanctus Real, Stellar Kart, BarlowGirl, and Shawn McDonald. She has been described as a combination of Feist and Regina Spektor with a hint of Norah Jones and the music stylings of Joe Purdy or Natalie Merchant. There is an earthy, feminine, witty, clever and open Soul inside her music- says a Cincinnati area music promoter. She currently has a song played on SIRIUS radio's The Coffee House that has been in their top 20 charts for 10 weeks and the top 40 since the song was first played.

Bio:

Ohio native Kelsey Skaggs is a 19 year old singer/songwriter. She has been singing and performing since she was very young. Music has always been a huge part of her life, and she has recently committed to pursuing it as her full time as her life's work. Kelsey has been playing the guitar for 3 years and it is an integral part of her musical journey. So far, her music has been a very exciting adventure. The recent addition of band members has opened up so many creative possibilities, and she's finishing up her debut professional EP as we speak! She would like to share her life experiences and faith through music, in a way that inspires others to make this world a better place.

Kelsey has written songs with deep spiritual meaning such as The Cross, Gardener’s Gloves and Through it All. But she also has a lighter side, with the songs Facebook and Pick up a Book.

Kelsey also enjoys donating her time and talent to various caring organizations with the hope that she can make a difference in people's lives. .

Most recently Kelsey has used her talent to help with the 60th annual Toys-for-Tots campagn in Nashville, TN. She also takes an annual trip to Mexico to serve there in music and other projects. This June she's taking a trip to Haiti to help with the devastation there.

"Coffeehouse circuit buzz alert! Ohio native Kelsey Skaggs is a 16-year old singer/songwriter. She has been singing and performing since she was 3. For a teenager, she has mature vocals. Her vocals remind me, at times, of Karin Bergquist (Over The Rhine), and a little Alanis Morrisette. You can imagine getting caught up in her music while having a nice tall cup of java. The lyrics indicate she knows how to get to get a crowd going. Good independent music!"

"I first met Kelsey a couple of weeks ago when I listened to her hit song, 'Facebook Admirer'. That song is such a hit on so many levels it's really hard to describe. For this day and age, it's literally the perfect pop song. In 2008 I predict Kelsey will sign a record deal - if that's what she chooses to do. I believe by mid-summer 'Facebook Admirer' will be one of the most popular and written about songs on the internet. And Kelsey will be well on her way."

.. I am natural. I love autumn. [The season, lol] I am sort of a people pleaser, but I’m not afraid to stand up for myself. I really believe I can change the world. :] I am NOT a fan of people who think they are better than others. I want to make a difference through missions some day… maybe a permanent position in missions even. I barely ever brush my hair haha. My favorite shows are the office, Seinfeld, family guy, and that 70's show. I love to laugh, and I love being around funny people. I’ve been told I’m a free spirit, which I am very okay with. I love to paint. Actually, while writing this, I have paint all over my arms and legs... I didn’t have any towels to wipe paint on, so, I used myself. I love ufc and mint chocolate chip ice cream. although buffalo wings are probably my favorite food. I’m not a big fan of modern conveniences, and I think the world would be a lot better with less superficiality. I love to take songs and make them new. I really love meeting new people. I would like to visit Africa some day… and Europe. I don't think anyone needs as much makeup as society says is routine. I haven't decided what genre to be classified in, and so I think I’m leaving it to God. My favorite bible verses are Jeremiah 29:11-13 and Acts 20:24. I know them by heart. My middle name is Nichole with an h. I love my family, and I also love change. One last thing — I really dislike the reputation that Christians have now days and I’m here to say I’m sorry, world. But in saying this, the world must know that not everyone is here to judge. Some are just here to love.
That’s about all I wanted to say.
