Influences include Duran Duran, Mental As Anything, Midnight Oil... Basically anything that was big in Australia back in the eighties and early nineties (except Beverly Hills 90210).
These days Kelly is inspired by Coldplay, James Morrison, Hinder, My Chemical Romance... and even Nickelback.
Sounds Like
Sometimes described as similar to Jewel, The Cranberries, or a little bit like Joan Jett. Why not have a listen and decide for yourself?
Gutsy, girly, acoustic pop/rock. Intelligent lyrics with catchy melodies.
The 26 year old singer/songwriter from Sydney has performed at live music venues such as the Lansdowne Hotel Broadway, The Commercial Hotel Balmain, The Ivanhoe at Manly, and at the Australian Songwriters’ Association’s National Song Competition Awards Night at The Metro.
Kelly’s honest lyrics and no-nonsense topics have earned the attention of many different and varied audiences, and her songwriting has won several awards including first place in the Rock/Metal/Alternative category of the Australian Songwriters’ Association’s National Song Competition in 2001 for “It Never Works”.
The debut 4-track CD release from Kelly “Where I’ve Been” showcases the diversity of her songwriting and performance abilities, while staying true to Kelly’s ‘acoustic’ style.
Kelly was born with a love of music and a desire to perform, and even as a toddler would entertain shoppers while dancing to the music of buskers, or distracting the congregation at her local church each Sunday with her energetic dancing in the aisles.
Kelly’s enthusiasm for music continued through school with her involvement in choirs and pageants, and she took piano lessons to develop her musicianship. However once her interest grew from performing to composing, Kelly picked up a guitar and has yet to put it down.
Through school rock groups and cover bands Kelly developed her performance skills until she eventually gained the confidence to step up and perform her original songs.
Kelly and her guitar can now be found wherever good original music is given a chance.
