Thank you for finding my MySpace! I actually have two MySpaces. This one is dedicated to my works as a Catholic songwriter. My other MySpace site is more about my career as a writer, and my personal viewpoints. Check it out! All are welcome!
I'm using this MySpace page a little differently from other artists on this service, most of whom are bands or performing artists. I'm a songwriter. I ordinarily do not sing my own songs, preferring to let others do the vocals for me. I have been blessed to have such Catholic luminaries as Jesse Manibsuan, Bob Hurd, Nellie Cruz, and so many others interpret my songs on CD. Most importantly, the Catholic community sings my songs when they come to worship at Sunday Mass.
I've been writing music for Catholic liturgy since I was in high school, in the Folk Mass days of the late 1960s. I have always considered it my ministry to write songs for Catholics and Christians to sing at worship. As Christian music styles progressed from folk, to folk rock, to CCLI Praise & Worship, I have tried to reflect the changing styles in my songwriting. At the same time, I am a firm believer in the grand tradition of the Catholic repertoire. I love Gregorian chant and traditional hymnody. As far was we've gone in contemporary Christian music, we must never forget where we came from.
I want to utilize this MySpace as a rotating showcase for my music. MySpace only allows four songs at a time, so I will present them as follows:
Song No. 1: A rotation of my songs from Love Never Fails, the CD that I was privileged to create with my good friend, Jesse Manibusan in 2003.
Song No. 2: Fly Like a Bird, one of my most popular songs.
Song No. 3: Alleluia! Give the Glory my other most popular song that I composed with my old college friend, Bob Hurd.
Song No. 4: A rotation of my songs from other collections and projects, including Spirit & Song 2 and my musical We Are a Light.
