Sakamoto Kengo was born in Tokyo, Japan.
His parents came from Amami Oshima.They
played Amami’s folk songs,traditional dance.
They lived in Kanagawa, but they loved culture
of Amami. Sakakmoto spent young time in
culture of Amami near Tokyo. His first instrument
was a Yamaha “electone” keyboard at the age
of 5.He began to play the electric bass when he
became sixteen years old.

He played Heavy metal and Hard rock in high
school,began to play progressive rock at the age
of 20 in college.
Afterwards,He played the music in the bands,
such as funk,jazz, american oldies. At the age
of 27, He joined KOENJIHYAKKEI. They made
their 2nd album,VIVA KOENJI!! in 1997 when he
joined in one month.

In 2000,Sakamoto moved from Tokyo to Okinawa.
He began to play and make with Okinawan musicians. He did recording album to Salk Vacchine. Their track named “Rock Egypt” got No.1 of college radio in SFC,USA. He edited completion album of Okinawan young generations. He produced album of female vocal called “pipin”. It had concept about “find your trip”. Also he joined making this concept.

Sakamoto joined Gender Sanshin Trio in 2004.
He learned the music of Indonesia stlye. and went to “Bali gamelan association” and “Jawa gamelan association” of Okinawa prefectural University of Arts.
He met Sawada jyoji,composer and bassist, play with him Brazilian.
In 2005,He started to compose. the music that contains progressive rock and world music,called “Rattims Friezz”. He perfromed solo by the improvisation.

東京都にて出生、両親は奄美大島出身。両親が奄美サンシン、８月踊り、大島紬など芸能、民芸などを行っており神奈川県に育ちながら、奄美大島文化環境の中、成長する。５歳の頃にエレクトーンを始める。１６歳よりエレクトリックベースを始める。当時はヘビィメタル、ハードロックを演奏し、２０歳の頃よりイエスやコロシアムなどプログレッシブロックの演奏を行う。その後、ファンク、ジャズ、オールディーズなど多種多様なバンドを経験し、２７歳より高円寺百景に加入。高円寺百景の２作目より参加。自身のアルバムデビューを果たす。
２０００年、東京から沖縄へ移住。沖縄ミュージシャンと交流を頻繁に行い、グンデルサンシントリオを結成。沖縄県立芸術大学のバリガムラン部、ジャワガムラン部に通い、インドネシア音楽を研究。同時期にブラジル、アフリカンなどワールドミュージックへ傾倒し、ネイティブなリズム、メロディとプログレッシブロック音楽の構築性の融合を目指した作曲を開始する。エレクトリックベースの可能性をソロパフォーマンスの中に求め、カルフォルニアのヨセミテの森の中に入り、山や川の音からインスパイヤされた演奏を行う。

公民館、プラネタリウム、美術館など演奏。小学校では、小学生達が見つめる中、演奏、およびレコーディングを行う。音楽の生まれる姿、レコーディングされる姿を見せ、創造的活動への発見となるようなイベントとなる。
