Kennebec (ken-e-bek) n.1. fusion of four talented musicians whose
musical roots and influences, from groundbreaking punk to metal and alternative to heavy rock, create a lucid, almost liquid, montage of rich Rock N' Roll to cultivate the senses.
Kennebec began the new millennium playing music with a college ministry and found that music was the ultimate form of communication. All the members of Kennebec have dedicated their lives to music and ministry. Keith Hovis explained: "In our music and in our lives, we are constantly searching for something, it's in the journey. Its like Einstein said, 'the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It's the source of all true art.' And it's in Christ that we find the answers to life's many mysteries." Kennebec's vision is to use their music to give people a vision, a reason, and a love that promotes a radical community, one that grows by helping one another.
Kennebec has performed with acts such as Relient K , Pillar , The Newsboys and many others and performed at Concerts, Festivals and Camps (including Ichthus, Cornerstone Florida and Cornerstone Ill, Durango Youth Fest, Nehemiah Festival), various youth events, and churches all across the United States since 2002.
Kennebec released their first full-length CD Rise Produced by Barry Blair the former Audio Adrenaline song writer and guitarist and producer (Bleach, Poor Mans Riches, Candle Fuse) in January 2007(Tone Box Records). Kennebec is represented by Sinless City Productions and Tone Box Records.
Kennebec was chosen for: New Artist Search Competition (Nashville) and featured on the NASC CD project released in July of 2003, a finalist for Jesus-fest 2004,to represent Mad Dog Records showcase at Ichthus May 2005, performed at the Indie Community GMA Showcase in Nashville, April 2007 and the Charis Core GMA Showcase April 2007. The Resistance and Objective Showcases in Nashville in April 2008.
Kennebec s listed as the 4 hard rock band at myCCM, in August 2007 in CCM and was listed with the top 100 myCCM bands and artists in CCM’s November 2007 issue.
