First and foremost, I love spending time with Renee and my girls. As you can imagine, time is not a resource I have much of, so we try our best to make the most of these valuable moments.
Besides that...believe it or not...I play the drums! Not only do I play drums at my church, but I'm also part of a bipartisan Congressional band called the "Second Amendments." We have played at many events throughout of the country and even for the troops in Iraq.
Heroes
Without a doubt, I am my father's biggest fan. He was a man of tremendous integrity and kindness. Like many farmers, he worked his fingers to the bone to provide for his family and give me the best chance at achieving my dreams.
I also have a deep admiration for the late Congressman Jerry Litton. He died in 1976 when the airplane carrying his entire family crashed on its way to his victory party after winning the Democratic nomination to the US Senate. Although we may have had our differences politically, he just had a way of carrying himself, a way of communicating, that I couldn't help admiring.
About me: I was born in Bertrand, Missouri to Paul and Jerri Hulshof in 1958. I spent my days working on my family's farm, one that I still own and operate. I earned an Agriculture Economics degree from the University of Missouri in 1980 and graduated from the University of Mississippi, School of Law, in 1983. I was a Special Prosecutor in the Missouri Attorney General’s office for eight years until I was elected to the U.S. Congress by the people of the Ninth District of Missouri. Currently, I reside with my family in Columbia, Missouri. My wife, Renee, and I are blessed with two daughters – Casey Elizabeth born October 30, 1999 and Hanna McKinley born December 7, 2002.
Who I'd like to meet: I'm looking forward to meeting many of you as I travel throughout the Great State of Missouri. I have come to know and respect so many of my constituents in the Ninth District, and I look forward to continuing those relationships and building new friendships, as well.
Hey thanks for the add! If you all ever need any help, just let me know. Im an intern at the capitol so I have a nice, central location and i'd love to help! Looking forward to the great Hulshof governorship! rachel.wickstrum@gmail.com
