Stevie Wonder, James Brown, George Clinton, and Earth, Wind & Fire. However, I grew up listening to mostly Top 40 radio, so my overall influences are very diverse.

music layout powered by HOTFreeLayouts.com / MyHotComments Hello, everybody! I'm Kenny Powell, and I'm a pre-Kindergarten teacher from Sacramento, California. I also happen to be a singer/songwriter/producer. I decided to combine the two things I love most and do best, and the result is my debut CD, "Preschool Jam!" This CD is a collection of original, traditional, movement, learning, sing-a-long, resting, and just plain fun songs for kids, parents, teachers, and anyone who loves to groove! "Preschool Jam!" is designed to encourage and stimulate young minds to learn and grow, and to enhance and reinforce the positive lessons that children learn at home, at school, and anywhere else. The songs that are in the player on this page now are from my upcoming CD, "Preschool Jam! 2 - Jam-Packed!", which is scheduled for release in October or November 2008. Watch for it! Meanwhile, the original "Preschool Jam!" CD is still available as a CD or a download. Just visit my website - Preschool Jam! - for all the details and lots of sound clips from both CDs.
I have over 20 years of preschool-daycare experience, and I earned a Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. "Preschool Jam!" has been field-tested at various child care centers, and the response has been so tremendously positive that I just had to make the CD available to everyone! Two of the recurring themes of this wonderful feedback are "We've played the CD so much, we've almost worn it out!" and "You've got to sell this CD!" Older kids and adults seem to enjoy "Preschool Jam!" as much as preschoolers do. Children, teachers, parents and others have raved about "Preschool Jam!" Hear it for yourself, and you'll understand what the buzz is all about. Buzz? For kids' music? Believe it! Kenny was featured in the Sacramento Bee, a major newspaper - see his "Sunday Single" feature at Sunday Single - Kenny Powell and Sunday Single full story - Kenny Powell. "Preschool Jam!" is a 2006 Children's Music Web Award winner in the Best Recording for Preschoolers ages 3 to 5 category - check it out at Children's Music Web Award - Kenny Powell - in the same winning group as Jim Gill and Putumayo Kids.
My biggest musical influences are Stevie Wonder, James Brown, George Clinton, and Earth, Wind & Fire. However, I love a wide variety of music, and I try to bring that variety to my own music. I believe that children deserve more choices, as long as the choices are positive and appropriate. On a personal note, when I'm not teaching or making music, my interests and activities include weight training, swimming, sports, music, and reading the newspaper.
Please visit my website at Preschool Jam! for much more info about me and my music. Thanks for looking and listening!

Hi Kenny - thanks for the note! We appreciate your kind words! Your music sounds great & we love that your songs grew out of a preschool education background. Music is such a fabulous way for all kids (young & old) to learn! Cheers to you!!
