It's time for a new celebration of one of the best vocalists ever heard in British soul music, Kenny Thomas. Kenny was born in Islington and declares himself a Londoner through and through whilst also being half Spanish.
Word of mouth on the UK’s soul underground brought Kenny to prominence in the first place, prompting his huge single and album success in the first half of the 1990s, so his overdue return to the scene owes everything to the undeniable power of the soul grapevine.
In response to demand created by his fans – July 2007 saw Curb records full release of the album 'Crazy World' - the single 'Crazy World' was seized upon by the soul cognoscenti and spread like fire through England’s ever-vibrant modern soul club scene.
Crazy World strikes one for home-grown British talent, with a soulful sway to rival most top soul singers in their prime. Hot on the heels of the single, Thomas released Crazy World, the long-awaited album which confirmed his credentials with long-time supporters and new appreciators beyond any argument.
Kenny made a huge mark during some golden years with the Chrysalis’ Cooltempo label including 2 Top 10 albums – 1991’s Voices and the 1993 sequel Wait For Me. In addition there was the Top 10 smash ‘Thinking about your Love’, 3 more Top 20 singles – ‘Outstanding’, ‘Best of You’ and ‘Trippin on your Love’ with 4 further Top 40 UK singles.
The album Voices went double platinum in 1991 and led to Brit Award Nominations as Best British Male Vocalist and Best British Newcomer.
The next Album – Wait for Me followed and hit the Top 10 with 4 chart singles.
Kenny continues to perform in venues, theatres, clubs and soul weekenders throughout the UK and Europe as the demand to see him live is huge and has never waned. He continues to thrill audiences with his soulful sound, smooth delivery and amazing vocal ability!!!!!
