About me: Ken Shimamoto has written about music for print publications including FW Weekly, Texas Music, The Big Takeover, Shindig (UK), Funhouse (Italy), and DFW Poetry Review, and online for I Love Fort Worth, The I-94 Bar, A History of Dallas Music, The First Church of Holy Rock and Roll, KNAC.com, Funtopia, the MC5 Gateway, and MC5 Japan. He published the first interview in 20 years with former Iggy & the Stooges guitarist James Williamson in 2001, and a lengthy excerpt from his history of Sonic's Rendezvous Band was included in the liner notes for the boxset released by Easy Action Records (UK) in 2006. He self-published "WRECK ROOM STORIES: True Tales From the Home of Rock 'n' Roll in Fort Worth As Told By the People Who Were There" (edition of 200) in 2007 and "HALTOM CITY NIGHTS: An Oral History; 20 Years of Friendship, Bad Behavior, and Rock ‘n’ Roll with the Haltom City-Riverside Crew" (edition of 20) in 2009. His "Young Republicans On Acid," an in-depth history of '60s Detroit psychedelic band SRC, was republished in "SHINDIG ANNUAL NO. 1" in 2009. (Kris Needs wrote in Record Collector, "Ken Shimamoto’s SRC is nothing less than Motor City heaven.") Ken blogs as The Stash Dauber, plays guitar in Stoogeaphilia and the Hentai Improvising Orchestra, has recorded with Top Secret and AwkQuarius, and is a member of the Asian Media Crew. He's married to Kat, has three children, five grandchildren, and two cats (because three is where the trouble always starts).
