Biografie
De Nederlandse underground muziekscene is er al langer over uit: Kensington is the next big thing. Maar inmiddels lijkt de rest van het land de Utrechtse band ook te ontdekken als het hipste dat er momenteel gebeurt in bandjesland. Hun eerste single en EP vol dansbare, puntige indie-pop-rock zijn helemaal uitverkocht, en zowel het publiek als de pers roemt de band als "een van de hotste nieuwe Nederlandse bands" (–Avantgarde Men), met "integere en knappe muziek" (–OOR).
Sinds hun oprichting in juni 2007 heeft Kensington al rond de 100 shows gespeeld in zalen als de Melkweg, Tivoli, 013, Ekko, Paard van Troje en een uitverkochte Oosterpoort als voorprogramma van The Wombats. De energie in de opzwepende muziek, de confronterende teksten en de energie op het podium, waar vier jongens losgaan voor een zaal vol dansende mensen, leidden eerder al tot airplay op 3FM, Kink FM en TMF en is nu vastgelegd in de vorm van een tweede EP. Vier catchy nieuwe tracks, opgenomen door Niels Zuiderhoek (Seven, Relax) en gemasterd in New York door Steve Fallone (the Strokes, Foals, TV On The Radio).
Deze EP, treffend 'YOUTH' getiteld, is alweer de tiende release voor Snowstar Records en wordt eind dit jaar uitgebracht in een mooie digipack met een remix door Nobody Beats The Drum. Het label, dat dit jaar zijn vijfde verjaardag viert, profileert zich zo meer en meer als vooruitstrevend indielabel en helpt Kensington naar een hoger niveau. De komende tijd zal er flink getourd worden en ondertussen werkt de band door aan hun eerste full length die in 2009 zal uitkomen.

Last december, during the Snowstar Records 5th Anniversary party in dB’s, we were joined on stage by ehhh, a lot of people! Members of I Kissed Charles, Destine, The Subhuman, Guinevere Leaves, We Love People In Bearsuits, Florida Snow and the dB’s crowd took the stage and enchanted Wanted/Needed with some delightful guest vocals :D.
