Jackie Keith Whitley, he was born in Ashland Kentucky, At Kings Daughters Hospital July 1st, 1954, he was born to Faye&Elmer Whitley, he was raised in Sandy Hook ky, When Keith was four years old he won a talent contest, he performed the song Big iron, At age 15 Keith and Ricky Skaggs, joined Ralph Stanley And The Clinch Mt. Boys, Keith Formed his own band The New Tradition in 1973, then later the band became known as The Country Store, One Album was recorded from this band, Country Store Live. In 1973 Keith was voted most promising Bluegrass singer.Keith then rejoined Ralph Stanely and The Clinch Mountian Boys as their lead singer. In 1978 Keith left the Clich Mt Boys , and joined J.D. Crowe and The New South, 1978 Keith recored his second Album My Home Ain't in the hall of Fame, the Album was recored live in Japan, 1982 Keith decided to move to Nashville, after moving to nashville he signed a contract with Tree Publishing Company as a song writer , he wrote songs for such performers as Alabama, George Jones. 1983 Keith signed a recording contract with Rca Records, The First Album with Rca was Hard Act to Follow, The Album didnt take off, The second album L.A to Miami, had the hit single Miami my Amy, The Follow up album Don't Close your eyes, produced three number one hits, Don't close your eyes, I'm no stranger to the rain, When you say nothing at all,1988 when you say nothing at all ,was Billboards number one,1989 I'm no stranger to the rain, was billbords number one, I Wonder do you Think of me was released after Keith's death, there was two songs from that album that hit number 1 song of the year, This page is a tribute page dedicated to the memory, the music and the man, Jackie Keith Whitley, Date he departed life, May the 9th 1989!
