What I love about jazz is that you feel it more than listen to it. Your whole body absorbs it and your soul comes alive when you hear it. Classical music works on our brain, rap fires us up and pop makes us sing in the shower or the car. But jazz takes over the body and soul and makes us feel things that we need to feel… happy things, sad things and everything in between. So, yeah, I love jazz. I play in bands, I teach kids and I give lessons. I compose, I arrange and I do it all because I love it.
Are you looking for great jazz music for an event in the Southeast? Do you want instruction for you or someone else in the Atlanta area? Are you searching for just the right saxophone player to make your band great? If so, I'd love to hear from you.
The Kenyon Carter Connection is a group of highly talented and professional musicians. We perform jazz in virtually all of its forms... from light background music for cocktail parties to groovin' smooth jazz and R&B for dancing, to hard swinging jazz worthy of the best jazz clubs. My group is available for weddings and corporate events as well as for private functions and bars/restaurants in the Atlanta area.
In addition, it is a pleasure for me to play saxophone regularly with The David Brothers Band, Kidd Blue, The Atlanta Jazz Band, the East Beach Blues and The Soul Purpose Band. I have also had the good fortune of playing with artists such as Ernie Watts, Allen Vizzutti, Carl Saunders, Conrad Herwig, Sam Skelton, and Wayne Newton. I have both a bachelors degree from Valdosta State University and a masters degree from Georgia State University in jazz saxophone performance.
I also enjoy sharing my passion for music with middle school and high school students. As an experienced band leader and composer; my groups consistently perform at a level that both entertain and engage the audience. I also conduct jazz clinics and private lessons for middle and high school students. Some of my former students include Ryan Whitehead and Daniel Williams. I am the former vice president of the Georgia Association of Jazz Educators and was recognized by the Elmhurst Jazz Festival as an Outstanding Soloist.

NEW MUSIC, HERE & NOW!!!
Just wanted to let you know I've been hard at work in the studio for my long overdue sophomore album, and have just posted a new track for you to preview. The song is called "SLOW ME DOWN" and it's a demo that I did at home, co-written by the very talented Johnny Reid! I am so excited about the new album that I just couldn't wait to share SOMETHING with everybody, so I hope you enjoy this little "sneak peak"!!
I look forward to hearing from you about the track, and encourage you to check out the new pictures I've put up.
Hope you are having a great week!
