I love all the blues singers. I wish my voice were like Bukka White, Patton or Howlin' Wolf, but no.Maybe I should try to sing like Skip James or Jimmy Reed.
After the long time of harmonica playing, I ended up singing and a lot of guitar playing for my own gig. I have been trying to come up with my own style of blues.It is somehow like progressive electric delta blues or something.On the bottom part of guitar I picked up steady walking bass from Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. I am very fussy about time.I use John Lee Hooker style for mid/high range.You know that sound?with 1st string open note plus simple sharp melodies.I love it.It is totally like one man guitar orchestra by finger picking.That is what I wanna do.My singing? That ..s ok.getting better, period.
I don..t use a rack when I play the harp.I don..t play the harp and the guitar at the same time anyway.
I am originally from Kamakura,Japan.I came to Toronto in 1994. .I started to go to blues jams at bars such as Chicago..s, Gladstone Hotel, Silver Dollar..s, Grossman..s. That was like going to school.I have been playing and recording with so many bands, musicians since then.I was a part of Jay Clark & The Jones for a long time.They are a great band.
I got my 1st CD "I Love Harp" out in 2006.It is a 10 track blues album featuring myself on harmonica,guitar and vocals,and Kenmi Chank on guitar. 2006 was a good year,also because a documentary movie about me "Harmonica Man From Japan"was produced by a Japanese Director Eiko Watanabe and it was one of the feature attractions at Japanese
Short Film Festival.

I do my gigs with James Thomson on upright bass.I play with my good friend, singer/piano player, Julian Fauth sometimes.He won Juno award last year.
Also, I back up Mike O..Grady, Bill Heffernan on the harmonica occasinally.
