Discovery Toys believes that reading opens the door to new worlds of discovery and inspiration for our children, and is a great way families can share quality time together. It’s never too early, or too late, to instill a love of reading that will last a lifetime.
The 2-4-6 READ-a-Thon is a fun and easy program designed to encourage parents and teachers to work together to help their children learn while promoting early literacy…developing the habit of reading in both parents and children!
Designed by a teacher to address the time constraints and fundraising issues in today’s schools, it is a great way to raise funds for new educational products for your classroom or daycare in a short period…perfect in these days of budgetary constraints. How does it work? TWO WEEKS
of reading teamwork. Parents, teachers and children read together just 24 minutes a day… (12 at home and 12 at school)… for a two week period. FOUR HOURS
of total reading time.
At the end of the two weeks, each
parent-teacher-child team will have read four hours together. SIX SPONSORS
pledge their support. Each parent and child team finds at least six sponsors to support their program. By pledging $1/hr, each sponsor contributes just $4 per child. How will you benefit?
1. Your organization/classroom receives 100% of all funds raised to purchase learning materials such as educational toys, games, books, music, independent learning systems, and teacher/parent resources from Discovery Toys.
2. Students receive the benefits of reading (or being read to) plus the advantage of using Discovery Toys in their classroom.
3. Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement for their effort and will have a chance to receive Discovery Toys prizes for turning their pledge sheets and money in on time. What’s included?
Organizations/classrooms will be provided with:
1. An Introductory Parent Letter that explains the 2-4-6 Reading Program.
2. A Tracking Form to tally the reading accomplishments.
3. A Sponsor Form to list each
team’s supporters.
4. A Final Parent Letter to share the amount raised and the type of educational products that have been purchased.
5. A Certificate of Achievement for all children who participated in the program.
An example of great results:
If 25 children participate with just their six sponsors, each child would contribute $24 which equals $600 in Discovery Toys products, all for only two weeks of effort! And the best part: the students are doing something worthwhile to achieve such positive results - READING!

I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon. Thank you for understanding and continuing to be my friend.
I have a grandson Garrett who is also autistic and eight! He is one of the reasons my daughter has put this program together! I am proud to say we have come along way this last year where the lines of communication are open and he is actually talking in sentences and reads well. My daughter has really pushed getting him into every program, she even quit her job so here we are with a wonderful new program that is a win-win for everyone!
