Sounds Like
Groove based house mixed with everything from German electro to Detroit techno. There's a melody that all the classic party grooves play almost subliminally where a thousand miles into the mix, a choir of angelic helium infused chipmonks repeat a vocal sound loop where you can't quite catch the words. What's that tune again? - is it in my head or on the decks? it gets played here all the time.
Rochester is one of the three original founders of Kerfuffle. Over the past ten years he's played hundreds of Kerfuffle parties and missed just one.
After jumping around to punk in the late seventies, Rochester discovered the joy of low frequency sounds with dub reggae. He started his DJ life presented a weekly reggae show for Lancaster University. By the the early eighties he was following the boom of the bass all over London, moving quad boxes in and out of vans with the King Alpha sound system after striking up a friendship with General Claudie his posse in Ladbroke Grove.
And then came acid house. A few lost warehouse weekends and a love of Colin Dale's early shows on Kiss led him to a rich seam of 90s underground parties like Heart and Soul' Whoop Whoop and eventually Wiggle. After being a regular punter for years, he found himself behind the decks at all three.
Rochester is often found spinning tunes at outdoor parties and under old railway arches than in West End clubs. Festival appearances include the Save the Rhino Festival in France, two Carry on Regardless festivals in Wales, The Longest Day festival in Sussex and numerous Teethout parties on the Kent coast.
He's presented regular house music internet radio shows on Cyberdance and Interface and has guested a number of times on Pulse Radio. From 2001 -2002 Rochester served 12 months as resident at Rumpus at the Sun and 13 Cantons in Soho. He
has since guested for Technology, Melisima and Platform as well as Kerfuffle specials at Space at Bar Rhumba, Subterrain at the End and Postive in Brighton.
Liz Edwards is also a founder member of the Kerfuffle Party, her past party experiences had been throwing illegal parties in Dubai from 1992 to 1996 before the boom era and when it became the Disneyland it is now. Not knowing too many people in London, underground parties became both a social scene and a way of exposing her DJing too. Her job at Swag Records in Croydon was a great way of finding new talent and letting underground DJs be heard.
The first venue to house Kerfuffle was “The Plug” in Stockwell Rd, during their time there it went through 5 Managers and 2 dj consort moves they hosted 8 all-dayers, the most memorable being Spaced 1999, when the ceilings were dripping with moisture by the end of the evening, and food from NYE was still there with Paul from Swag tucking in and random people falling amongst it. This was also a healthy time for House, with Subterrain, Wiggle & Whoop Whoop all being on the night before the alldayers sometimes, and they were the official after party, so everyone could get together and compare their evenings. At one point they were throwing Kerfuffle parties every Friday without fail. Commitments forced them to cut back to monthly parties. Eventually the venue got sold.
Thankfully we found Kerfuffle's current venue “The Jamm” formerly Bar Lorca, The venue doesn't rip the guests off, which is why we can charge a reasonable entrance fee, plus the djs they use can be established and up and coming and come from all corners so we always have new faces joining the party. Kerfuffle is not about how you look, or what you do. It's bout a bunch of people who have grown to love each other over countless great nights out together. Were proud of our efforts to keep the underground sound alive and kicking, but to be honest it's been the underground that's kept us alive. And we're still kicking. Lots of people that attended those parties still come now and lots of them married and have children, so Kerfuffle has played cupid in many ways. Thanks to you all for keeping on coming back. Guests that have played for Kerfuffle over the last 10 years are too many to mention. Here are just a few:

Kerfuffle : Hi there, This is an absolutly mass comment, but though its an interesting one! Its about a strictly tech-house release! If your lookin for some catchy and funky tech-house, or a lil deeper and flashy groove, or just the heavy 3 am gear, than you..ll find it quite interesting! :] The EP got some serious support from alot of the music artits in my personal fav list, so i guess that..s another thing that make..s it worth a check.
