Kerry will be previewing songs from Table in the Corner at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on 13th & 14th August at The Jazz Bar on Chambers Street (Fringe Venue 57).
She will be appearing with a Quartet including Scotland's answer to Chet Baker, the amazing Colin Steele on trumpet and fresh from his time in New York, Scottish rising star pianist Paul Kirby.
Kerry Hodgkin is a professional singer and band leader specialising in jazz, blues, latin and soul music.
She trained as an actress, but being from a family of singers (on her Dad's side) she returned to music and has been singing professionally on and off for more years than she now cares to count! Over the years she has sung with rock bands, soul bands, pop outfits, a four piece a capella group, done backing and session vocals for various people, but now concentrates on her true musical love - combining contemporary jazz with her earlier soul and blues influences.
This combination is now finding its best outlet to date through Kerry's forthcoming album TABLE IN THE CORNER. Produced by the award winning vocalist Ian Shaw the album features originals, standards and not so standards, with arrangements by Janette Mason, Ian Shaw and Clark Tracey.
The band line-up for the album is also suitably impressive. The core band features the incredibly talented composer Janette Mason on piano and various vintage keyboards, up and coming bassist Nick Pugh and Mark Fletcher on drums (well known for his work with the likes of Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll). Added to this are the front-line talents of the multi-award winning Alan Barnes on saxophone/clarinet and rising star Andy Davies on trumpet/flugel. With a guest piano appearance by Ian Shaw and a cameo backing vocals performance by the mysterious Washina Gospel Choir, all together you have a truly stellar line-up!

"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
