   Kerry's Blurbs
About me:

Hi I'm Kerry and I was elected as the first Greens Senator for New South Wales in 2001.

Since then I've been a progressive voice in the Parliament and in the community on a range of issues. I've spoken out against the invasion of Iraq, been at the forefront of exposing the government's treatment of asylum seekers and been an advocate for public education and also the reproductive rights of women.

Before I was elected I had lived in Kakadu National Park working with the Traditional Owners of the land to successfully stop the Jabiluka Uranium Mine being built. I also spent time living in East Timor teaching English to Timorese women and was a youth worker in a multicultural community centre in Western Sydney.

You can read more about me at www.kerrynettle.org.au

Who I'd like to meet:

Three things you don't know about me:

1) I was a timekeeper for Ian Thorpe when he was a nipper.

2) I played the trumpet in the world marching band championships.

3) Speak a bit of Tetum (the main language of East Timor)

Favourite food to cook: Tomato pasta. I also make a nice risotto

Desert island necessity: fresh water

Favourite reality TV program: carbon cops

Favourite fitness activity: swimming

Worst habit: staying at work too late

Hidden talent: knitting

Last music purchase: The Waifs

Car you drive: I ride my bike or walk + drive a toyota prius when i need to drive a car

Favourite book: harry potter

Favourite film: The Island

Favourite band: Lucie Thorne

Favourite TV program: the robin hood series that just finished

Best thing about being a politician: meeting people who are passionate about a particular issue and being able to help them with their issue

Worst thing about being a politician: not getting to spend as much time with family and friends as I would like .

The League for Social Justice and Human Rights wishes you all the best in the 2007 Federal Election. If you are not re-elected to the Senate, then Australia will be far worse off because of it. We wish you all the best and applaud you for efforts and idealism over the years.

Little Johnny Howard's hot election response to climate change is a real BBQ Stopper - he's going to make nuclear power sexy.

Meet Ernie & Sheila and all the gang and marvel at their radioactively hot antics around the gene pool. You've got to laugh ;)

Tell all your friends family and work mates EVERYONE's WELCOME!
Please email them the link, embed it on your blog & respond to others blogs & forums with the invitation, comment on their MySpace & Facebook pages, send them smoke signals or carrier pigeons but don't let them miss out on the best laugh they are likely to get out of the climate catastrophe this election campaign.

I'm looking forward to the Greens forum tonight!

I have encouraged others to also watch!

I'm glad Werriwa has a Greens candidate for the House of Reps, and I can assure you I will be voting you back into the Senate!

This is going to be a new beginning in Australian politics when the major parties aren't the ultimate deciders.

It's time for real action to take place and I believe without reservation that The Greens have the ability to do this.

I wish you and the rest of The Greens Senators and House of Representatives candidates the best of luck for this election!

Hi Kerry!

I was just wondering what your opinion of "The Chaser" teams prank on the APEC (in)security zone?

Oh and I agree that the government must compensate small businesses affected by the Berli... uh, I mean, "Security" wall.

You're doing great work in the Senate! Keep up the good effort!

THE WORTH OF A WOMAN
"Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they
think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have the compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.

Women have vital things to say
and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT SOMETIMES THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Please pass this along to all your women friends
and relatives to remind them just how amazing they are."
My beautiful Mother in-law will be greatly missed!
